Nike Killed It With Their "Risk Everything' Ad Campaign Featuring Some Of The Best World Cup Players...

Nike is a huge sponsor of this years World Cup, and they are a huge player in the international soccer market. The only major player they do not have on their roster is Messi (albeit he is the best), but Nike is busting out all of its stars for its latest ad campaign entitled 'Risk Everything'. There are three films in all, and they are all pretty cool. 'Risk Everything' features Neymar of Brazil, Reynaldo of Portugal and Rooney of England as they undergo their World Cup journeys. 'Winner Stays' is a cool one in which kids play a pick up game of soccer at the park in which the winner stays on the pitch. The kids transform into all of the worlds greats, and they highlight typical moves from these guys. 'The Last Game' is animated and shows us a fictional future where soccer players are ruled out by Clones, who replace players who are human and therefore take risks. The clones become the stars of soccer, and the 'Originals" are sent packing... no longer the stars they once where. But the 'Originals', lead by the older Brazilian legend Ronaldo, come back strong for one last game. Ibrahimovic, Christiano Ronaldo, Iniesta, Brazilians Neymar & Luis, Rooney and Tim Howard lead the charge against The Clones... will they win? A great marketing campaign for Nike in this World Cup year. Catch all three videos after the jump...

Game of Thrones x World Cup Nike Unis by Nerea Palacios

With World Cup fever in full swing now that the USA has advanced to the knockout stage in consecutive tournaments for the 1st time ever, I thought it was only right to share these beautiful soccer uniforms inspired by the Game of Thrones houses. Nerea Palacios created these using Nike ID's features to get the colors right, and then adding some nice touches in details and dope backgrounds to drive the whole project home. These are just fantastic, and I would love to see them on the field. I am sure Daenyrys & the Targareyns would have a slight unfair advantage with 3 dragons on the pitch at once. Video Games are no longer a fringe entertainment, they have gone extremely mainstream. Characters & game situations are recognized by many a person young and old... show a person who doesn't know who Mario is or doesn't know what a warp pipe does, and I will show you someone who has lived under a rock for the past 30 years. Nike recognized this, and decided to appeal to the gamers inside all of us to sell us on the new Nike + athletic program. They use recognizable situations from some of the greatest games of all time (Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, etc) to show what it is like to work out in the brave new world of Nike +. The gang at Nike always makes fantastic commercials, and this one is no exception. Well done... check out the full video after the jump.

Commercially Acclaimed Vol #24 - Nike Fuel Band

TV commercials are a part of our everyday lives as TV viewers. Even though Tivo and DVR have allowed us to "skip through" the commercials, the advertising companies are still trying to peak our interests by coming up with creative commercials. To me, great commercials are an art form and are under appreciated by a society that is always trying to speed through things. Think about it... how many times did you see a great commercial that made you laugh hysterically or want to go out and purchase the advertised product??? And how many times has the best part of the Super Bowl been the commercials during a blow out game???  Whether you want to admit it or not, commercials are cool as shit... and here are some of my favorites.

This weeks ad comes to us from the geniuses over at Nike. It is being used to promote the Nike Fuel Band, which is a new product that tracks our activity throughout the day. In order to illustrate which activities will generate positive energy readings on the Fuel Band, they choose to highlight multiple scenes from cinematic history & past Nike Commercials. Any commercial that can squeeze The Big Lebowski, Twin Peaks, Amadeus, The Warriors, Monty Python, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Scooby Doo, Ghost Dog and Slap Shot clips into one commercial has got to be amazing. The 'Home Bulls' Collection Celebrates 25 Years Of Jordans...

Over the past 25 years, Nike and Michael Jordan have paired up to make some of the greatest sneakers ever created. The shoes they have produced are not only technically sound, they are some of the flyest creations to ever be worn on peoples feet. In celebration of 25 years of making pure fire, Nike has announced a 'Home Bulls' collection of sneakers, featuring one model from each of the 25 years in similar colorways. All of the sneakers in the collection have a white upper base with red soles/liners and black laces. I own at least one pair of each of the 25 models (yeah, I have a problem buying shoes), but I have to admit that seeing all of these like this is really cool. A to Z Blogging Challenge - Day #7 - Letter G - Grapes (Jordan V Grapes)

So Clean...

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge sneaker fan. I have over 150 pairs of kicks right now, and I have had hundreds more over the years. I have been a size 13 since freshman year of high school and still have a few pairs from back then. When I was growing up my Dad often took me to Sports Depot on Crossbay Blvd or Sneaker Corner on Liberty Ave to get sneakers. I always got Jordans or other hot kicks, such as Adidas Superstars or Reebok Pumps. And although I loved every Jordan that has ever been made, nothing... and I mean nothing comes close to the Air Jordan V Grapes.

Heaven on a Jordan Planet!

When these puppies dropped in 1990, they set the streets on fire. This was the first time that Nike decided to step out of the comfort zone a use some different colors. The purple & turquoise colorway are just stunning compared to the usual combos of black, red, and white that Jordans usually come in. The reflective tongue with the huge Jumpman made the sneaker pop, and the lacelocks on the top allowed you to have the shoes untied but secured (it was the style at the time). The mesh sides, the 3/4 cut (they look like regular high tops, but typical basketball shoes back then were SUPER high)... these were cream of the crop. I always wanted them, but never had them as a kid.

Back in 2006 the Jordan Brand started retroing the Jordan V's, and one of the planned colorways was the 'Grapes'. I copped them instantly... after 16+ years I finally had them!!!! Here I am rockng my 'Grapes' at the last Music and Movie Night with my partners Papa James & Bianca Papas.

They are my favorite sneakers that I own... the highlight of my collection. There is a rumor that the Jordan Brand is releasing the 'Grapes' again in a 2pack with the Jordan V 'Laney' colorway (blue & yellow) later this year... only time will tell on that one. But I'm good... I already got mine!!!!
