Commercially Acclaimed Vol #25: Kate Upton Love Meat In Her Mouth

TV commercials are a part of our everyday lives as TV viewers. Even though Tivo and DVR have allowed us to "skip through" the commercials, the advertising companies are still trying to peak our interests by coming up with creative commercials. To me, great commercials are an art form and are under appreciated by a society that is always trying to speed through things. Think about it... how many times did you see a great commercial that made you laugh hysterically or want to go out and purchase the advertised product??? And how many times has the best part of the Super Bowl been the commercials during a blow out game???  Whether you want to admit it or not, commercials are cool as shit... and here are some of my favorites.

This weeks ad proves once again that Carl Jr's is the fast food franchise that I most want to work for. The fast food giant recruits all american hotness Kate Upton to have a solo eating session at the drive in with a Southwest patty melt. God damn this is one of the sexiest commercials I have ever seen. It's also a bit hotter because Upton is known to truly love greasy food, and boy would I love to show her my hotdog... enjoy the commercial!

This weeks ad comes to us from the geniuses over at Nike. It is being used to promote the Nike Fuel Band, which is a new product that tracks our activity throughout the day. In order to illustrate which activities will generate positive energy readings on the Fuel Band, they choose to highlight multiple scenes from cinematic history & past Nike Commercials. Any commercial that can squeeze The Big Lebowski, Twin Peaks, Amadeus, The Warriors, Monty Python, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Scooby Doo, Ghost Dog and Slap Shot clips into one commercial has got to be amazing. This weeks ad is for SoBe drinks and is called "The Staring Contest". In it a regular guy is pitted against the gorgeous swimsuit model Kate Upton in a staring contest poolside, and lets just say that Upton is not paying fair. This weeks spot features two amazing actors, Joe Pesci & Don Rickles craving candy bars that can satisfy their hunger. I love these Snicker commercials, especially the past ones that featured Betty White & Abe Vigoda and Aretha Franklin. Very good idea, and this one is no exception. "What do you model... gloves?" This week we got a new Heineken commercial entitled "The Entrance". If you watch it one time you will know exactly what the title means... The song is from the group called The Asteroid Galaxy Tour entitled "The Golden Age". If you see this commercial more then once on TV you will be humming it all day long!!!

This week we got a vintage spot from Nike that pitted down low nightmare Charles Barkley 1 on 1 against the Tokyo Destroyer himself, Godzilla. This is from the classic era of Nike commercials (face it, they have some of the absolute BEST tv spots ever), and Barkley is great as the good guy who isn't afraid to get dirty. You gotta love the sports glasses that Godzilla pops on right before they start playing (in purple for Barkley's Phoenix Suns!!!). The effects were actually done by George Lucas's Industrial Light & Magic, which makes them automatically awesome.

This was right around the time Nike began to embrace Barkley as the "anti-Jordan", the bad guy you could root for in contrast to Jordan's perfectly good guy. They even crossed over with Dark Horse comics to do a one shot featuring Barkley balling with the beast. How many atheletes can say that they starred in their own comic, and got to beat up on Godzilla? Here is the cover and some panel art. Enjoy!!!
