We Are In The 2013 A to Z Challenge... And Our Theme Is Killer!!!

After taking last year off I have decided that CCD needs to get back into the A to Z blogger challenge. For those of you guys who don't know what the A to Z blogger challenge is, it is a gathering of bloggers (currently over 750+) that take the whole month of April to construct blog posts daily to the corresponding letters of the alphabet. A for the first day, B for the second day, etc.... and all of the posts are organized into a specific theme for your blog. I have decided that I will use my love of hot chicks and movies to formulate my theme. Basically every day of the blog I will chose a movie with a corresponding movie (for example A is for Armageddon) and then I will post pictures of the hottie from that film (of course, I mean Ben Affleck... er, um, I mean Liv Tyler!!!!!). The challenge begins on April 1st, so make sure you check in everyday to see which movie I picked and which hotties pics I post. The coolest part about the challenge is being exposed to new blogs, and I am looking forward to visiting them all (or as many as I can...). Looking Back On The 2011 A to Z Challenge!!!

Wow... I can't believe that the month is over already! This challenge has been a wonderful experience for me and was quite fun. I got to find some really cool blogs, expand my horizons in terms of what kind of sites I visit, and make some new virtual friends. All in all it went quite well.

The best part about the challenge was gaining a shit ton of new followers and garnering some great comments. I love to hear what people think about my posts and the comments are coming much more frequently now then they ever had before. Keep 'em coming guys...

A to Z Blogging Challenge - Day #26 - Letter Z - Zorro, The Gay Blade

This 1981 film starring George 'The Tan' Hamilton was hysterical and very ahead of its time. It features Hamilton in a Golden Globe nominated dual role as both Zorro and his gay twin brother Bunny Wigglesworth. After his brother gets injured by a foe, Bunny comes back to California to take up the mantle of Zorro to help out his brother... but he does it in quite a gay-er fashion than the original. See for yourself: (I know the voice is a bit off in this trailer, but it was the best I could find!)



This is a funny comedy that always makes me laugh. Hamilton really sells both roles. Not to mention that hottie Lauren Hutton looks amazing here once again. I miss these 80's era comedies that I can not believe ever got made in the first place. Can you imagine the pitch meeting for this one? Can you imagine everyones face when they say Hamilton would be going from this:

A to Z Blogging Challenge - Day #24 - Letter X - Xzibit - Paparazzi

This is one of the greatest rap songs ever made. I say this with a straight face... 100%! The beat is amazing, and what makes it even more substantial is that this was The X Man's first song!!! This song brings back a ton of memories from South Broward High in 1995-1996, my man Tone Capone from Stixfigure, Big Vic and Richie Staples, and a great song amongst a ton of other amazing joints that came out around that time. The video is also just as stunning... peep these lyrics, my man X gets it in!!!



Even if you are not a fan of Rap you have to acknowledge that the beat on this one is beautifully hypnotic. Great job X.... leave the custom cars alone and make another song like this!

There is no more powerful tool that I use in my daily fight against the man's oppression then good ole Wiki! While the information is not always 100% accurate (the info is user uploaded, but is mostly a very good source of info!) it can't be rivaled by any other site for sheer information amount. I love Wiki, and I use it in almost every blog post I write. Hey Wiki... Thanks for being a friend (Golden Girls voice)...

A to Z Blogging Challenge - Day #20 - Letter T - The Tardis

The Tardis throughout the history of Dr. Who

I have recently become enamored with the British TV hit Dr. Who, so what better to celebrate the letter T then to salute the Tardis. For those of you out there who never watched Dr. Who (do it know... its all on Netflix Instant!) the Tardis (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space) is the time machine that allows the good Doctor and his companion(s) to travel through time and space. It is in the shape of a 50's London police call box so as to blend in an ordinary object, and many explanations have been given as to why it stays that way. The most popular is that the ship has a faulty "chameleon circuit" and is forced to keep re-using this disguise.

The Dr. Who franchise is well over 50 years old and has seen many forms, yet the Tardis is the one constant that always remains unchanged. I never watched the show before a few weeks ago, yet I have long associated that London police box with the series despite not knowing anything about it. In England the word "Tardis" is often used to describe any space that is bigger inside than it appears to be outside (thats a wikifact right there son!). It's tempermental, and doesn't always cooperate with it's Time Lord master, but it is super cool and iconic nonetheless.

A to Z Blogging Challenge - Day #19 - Letter S - Scott Pilgrim

Brian Lee O'Malley, you are a chubby little asian genius!!! I have been totally into O'Malley's Canadian uber-comic series since the first time I laid eyes on it. The simplistic yet well done artwork, the witty dialouge, and the tongue & cheek capturing of a twenty something year old slacker's lifestyle all makes the 6 volumes of this title a must read. O'Malley gets it all right in his seminal title, and provides a very well balanced comic that appeals to both guys and gals. Guys love the superhero styled fights and adventurous storyline, and the gals will love the powerful women characters & the complex relationship storyline. It has something for everyone!

Scott is an every guy... he has that Peter Parker appeal. Only thing is, he doesn't have the spiderpowers of Webhead. He does have some unreal fighting skills, but those play second fiddle to his awkward ability to underestimate every situation and constantly get hiimself in trouble. Along comes Ramona, the gorgeous and trendy foreigner (from NYC) that complete rocks Scott's world. He has to be with her, at any cost. So when he finds out that cost will be to defeat her 7 evil ex's, he takes the challenge on. What follows is some crazy battles that involve moviestars, bollywood style dance numbers, lesbians, invisibilty, twin asian guitar players, swordfights, war hammers, numerous battle of the bands, an evil mastermind music producer and my all time fave... Vegan Super Powers!!! I know that all sounds quite silly, but you must read it to believe it. It's all quite magnificient... trust me.

On the flipside, I would be out of line if I did not mention Edgar Wright's fantastic movie adaption of the series. First, let me start off by saying that Wright's version of the material was my favorite movie of last year. I also thought that Michael Cera nailed the Scott Pilgrim of the books. Skinny, scrawny and still able to kick some ass for love. The supporting cast is magnificient... and that was the key to the success of this film. The books featured an amazing supporting cast, and the movie does as well. All in all, it's an almost perfect re-creation of O'Malley's genius comic, and could easily be watched instead of reading the book. I recommend both, because they are absolutely wonderful. I will always love Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece 'The Shining' and thought that would be a great topic for my 'R' post. I love the scene when Danny scribbles "Redrum" on the wall and repeats it over and over again to his mother as she tries to figure out what it means. A to Z Blogging Challenge - Day #17 - Letter Q - Foods That Begin With The Letter 'Q'

This is one of my all time favorite scenes from the classic basketball movie 'White Man Can't Jump'. Gloria, played by Rosie Perez, is basketball hustler Billy Hoyle's (woody Harrelson) girlfriend. Since Billy is always hustling, Gloria is constantly studying for her big break when she can get on Jeopardy and win some big money. This all seems silly, until Billy gets her a chance to be on the show (through gambling on bball of course!) and she destroys the competition... but it all begins with her favorite category "Foods That Start With The Letter Q". A to Z Blogging Challenge - Day #16 - Letter P - Popped Culture

For all of you guys that love this blog, I thank you for all your support. But I would be remissed if I didn't shout out one of my favorite blogs that I read everyday when I have a shot. I figured I would use my "A to Z Blogging Challenge" post for the Letter P to highlight my boy Jeremy Barker's blog, Popped Culture.

For those of you who have never been there, Popped Culture is a site that focuses on fan art, or should I say awesome art in general. They show some of the greatest mashups, re-creations, re-interpetations, and overall insane versions of the most recognizable characters in the history of fiction. Trust me, check these guys out and you will not be disappointed. Tell them CCD sent ya and they will treat you right!!! Keep up the good work Jeremy!

A to Z Blogging Challenge - Day #15 - Letter O - Ozymandias

Movie & Comic Versions of Ozymandias

Ozymandias is one of my all time favorite comic book villains ever... and I am also sympathetic to his reasoning for wanting to create a "better world". For those of you guys who have no idea who the fuck Ozymandias is and what I am talking about, I have a question for you: Are you fucking KIDDING ME?

Ozymandias is the classic hero who has had enough trying to help a society that can't help itself. He is clearly superior to the rest of the world when it comes to frame of mind, so he hatches a plan to focus everybodies attention to a faked alien attack in the hopes that all of humanity will fight to unite against the intruders. The best part about Ozy is that he doesn't make the classic villain mistake of babbling about what he is going to do when confronted by Night Owl & Rorshach. Nope... when they ask him WHEN he plans on unleashing this attack, he tells them it already happened!!! Their reaction is to be stunned.... and there is nothing they can do about it. That makes him the best villain in my book.

Then there is his awesome genetically altered lynx companion Bubastis. How cool is this purple motherfucker? He would easily bring damage anybody who would want to harm Oz. This guy is so majestic it is scary. I was so sad when he was taken out at the end of the Watchmen film... he didn't get nearly enough screen time!!! All of these reasons make Ozymandias the greatest villain in the history of comics. He got it done... don't hate, congratulate!!!

One of my alltime faves... and you probably never even heard of it!!!

Anybody who reads this site knows that I am a movie freak... I watch way to many films, and I am a cinefile of epic proportions. I am also trainng my 8 year old son Mikey to follow in my footsteps in the way of the order... But thats neither here or there. Since I have such a vast knowledge of movies, here are 10 movies that you probably have never seen (or heard of!!!) that you need to watch.... ASAP!!! Make these happen... you will be a better movie watcher afterwards. Here we go:

1. Danger Diabolik - Crazy Italian 1960's superhero/spy movie
2. Santa Sangre - Cult classic that features a fucked up circus and mongoloids... what else do you want?
3. BloodSucking Freaks - Torture Horror from the 70's... the real deal!
4. The Krays - A true story English gangster movie about twin crimelords. Awesome.
5. Hysterical - Terrible 80's B-movie comedy that is so bad its great.
6. Brotherhood of the Wolf - French werewolf movie set in the 1700's.
7. Men of Respect - Gangster retelling of Macbeth with John Turturro, Peter Boyle, and Rod Steiger
8. The Wizard of Gore - The godfather of all modern gore movies.
9. Murder by Death - Neil Simon adaption of a Clue-like murder mystery way before Clue. Great Cast.
10. Saturday the 14th - Horror spoof with Jeffrey Tambor that is classic 80's.

A to Z Blogging Challenge - Day #11 - Letter K - Krang

I was a huge fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when I was a kid. I think the reason was because the cartoon came out around 1987 and I was starting to get more into sports. I had already loved He-Man, G.I. Joe, Transformers, Thundercats and other shows so much... but it seems to me that TMNT was the last time a new cartoon blew my mind. Out of all the villains that the Turtles faced, Krang was always the coolest looking to me... and by default he became my favorite!!!

Krang is Shredder's partner in crime in trying to take over the world and get rid of the Turtles. He is a brainlike mass that is housed in a large mechanical body that was created by Shredder. In return, he allowed Shredder and the Foot Clan to operate out of the Technodrome. This maniacal brain had the awesome high pitched voice and the ill factor that always appeals to young boys... it's no suprise I liked him so much!!!

On a side note, Krang provided me with one of the coolest Cosplay costumes I have ever seen. Behold, the most awesome Cosplay costume ever:
