Super Modern Mario Brothers

Super Mario Brothers for Nintendo is one of the greatest games ever created, and it holds up quite well. While games have advanced over the years to the point that they are almost lifelike, the NES classic still holds up in terms of functionality and ability to hold a child's interest. But if the game was being released for the first time in this day and age, there would have to be some changes made. They could keep the side scrolling action, the Goomba & Koopa enemies, and the flagpole... but they would have to tweak things like what would happen to the enemies when you killed them, what powers the power-ups would give you, and how the hell a plumber from Brooklyn could slide down a 100 foot flagpole without a problem!!!! Looks like our favorite intergalactic Wookie gave himself 'A Very Bad Shave'. He's such the metrosexual these days.

...And speaking of Chewbacca, the everpopular Wookie/Cookie Monster mash-up gets another redo in 'Cookie War'. I like the addition of a more-than-fully operational Chocolate Chip Death Star in this one. 

'Space Invaded' takes minimalistic design in the opposite direction and adds an intergalactic twist! Your favorite 8bit Atari invaders have shifted into high gear to attack a town near you.

'Ninja Panda' ...like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, only, cuddlier. Everybody's Kung Fu fighting these days. Hyeee-Yah!

'Gotta Catch 'Em All'  imagines biblical folk hero, Noah, as possibly the worlds first Pokemon trapper. I choose you...um....Elephant of the Serengeti. 

'The Baby's Gun' doesn't look like it should be toyed with. Love the colors and want to kill something with it! Yep...it's a keeper! 

'SUPER Mario!' is a funky Dragonball Z/Super Mario Bros. mash-up. Watch out...this plumbers gone Super Saiyan!

'About to Blue' is an homage to one of the greatest comedic TV shows in the history of television...'Arrested Development'. Be careful not to blue yourself in public. 

Skeletor, The Dungeon Master, Shredder, Magneto, and.....Mumm- Ra ..the eveeeeer.....liviiiiiing have aligned forces in a small way to take on the forces of good in 'Minimalist Villains'. Like?...or Hate?

And my favorite, original design this week is 'Killer in the Sky'. I'd rock the shit out this one when I go shooting birds in the park at midnight. Blam! Blam! Blam! .....caaaaw

Before I start in with my regular weekly picks, I'd like to mention that Threadlsess has still been running a 'Threadless Loves Pin-ups' challenge all week. Hot sluts in a 40's style pin-up homage. Here's a few of my favorites from that challenge this week....

First up, this cherubic 'Sailor Pin-up' really floats my boat! Oh......to be an octopus...but, just for a day.

The Bride of Frankenstein is pinning HERSELF up in this clever and very sexy 'Needles & Pins' design that make me wanna 'play doctor'....Frankenstein that is.

Zapper Gun?...check!....Power Glove?....check! ....and....if I squint just right, I think I can see some sexy cotton panties under this plumber groupie's dress in 'Pixel Pin-up'. Maybe she'll let me use my joystick ;)

Finally...our geeky gadget hero, 'Inspector Gadget' gets a seductive make-over. 'Wowsers', indeed! Go go gadget boner!

And this week, some of my favorite non-challenge tees were....

'Component Upgrade' has our favorite Oz woodsman getting a much-needed tin mech suit tune up. Now if we could just ratchet-up the Lion's courage a bit.

One might ask "Does Batman ever get a 'Superheroes Night Off' ?" I guess he just has to flip off the right people. Great!

This minimalist 'Chewie & Han' Star Wars design really sends me into hyperdrive. The Chewbacca, particularly is a thing of fuzzball beauty. Simple but, stupendous!

Get your mallet! Big Trouble in Little Japan' is Mario & Donkey Kong ....samurai style! 

'Get Your Ass To Mars' ..and if you do, be sure to grab me one of these totally recalled Quatto novelty, tourist tees.

'Akuma Matata'...it's a wonderful phrase. Unless, of course, you're on the receiving end of a flaming Hadouken from this little Lion King/Street Fighter mash-up.

Finally this week, my favorite quite possibly could be this feudal japan Star Wars re-envisionment 'Duel of Fates'. Two ancient Jedi having it out with each other in a field far far away in front of a Death starry sky. Makes me wanna see THIS film. "Luke san...I am your Chichioya."

Next up, get yourself invited to this 'Sexy Vampire Party' and expect the worse...but die happy mortal....or reach immortality. Either or.

This Intergalactic pin-up says she's 'Better Than Tang'. Oh, I bet she is....I.....bet.....she.....is!

'Mucha Pin Up' is an homage to the Alphonse Mucha masterpiece 'Moon' ...only this one gives me just a tad bit more boner. Oh, to be the 'man in the moon' on THIS occasion. "Le'Sigh"

And...finally, You'd be yelling for your prehistoric bride 'Wilmaaaaa !!!' like Fred Flintstone does all the time if you knew she would come running looking like THIS. Just be careful of the horse...umm...Dino she rides in on.

OK...enough of those mouth-watering hotties...on to something more geeky

'Minesweeper' is an basic, explosive homage to the web game of the same name. I like it's style though. 

'The Thinker' has our temper-tantrum throwing Avenger taking a break (brake?) from smashin' baddies, for a long ponderants of what's to come.

'Friend?' I think NOT! IT'S A CTHULHU!!

'Snowman Suicide' is clever. I don't think we can expect this frosty to be "...back on Christmas Day".

'Space Pirate' is skull & crossbones for the intergalactic jet-setter. I'm stunned.

'Death Star' Is a fun little Super Mario Bros./Star Wars mash-up. 2 of my absolute favorites....bet the princess is in another star system, though.

'As You Wish' ....assembles an all animal animated re-cast of our favorite swashbucking film 'A Princess Bride'. Perfect casting if you ask me. I want to see THIS reboot!

Any super-fan of the Legend of Zelda franchise nows that a great way to kill time, and gather rupees is to chase after a few fowl. but, maybe it's best if you 'Don't Mess With The Chickens'

'Dark Symmetry' is one for my man, Mike D. A perfect piece of Kubrick imagery for the 'The Shining' lovers. 

'The Samurai Battle'....fuck yeah! Gotta have THIS war prize. 

And my final...and FAVORITE pick this week was a design entitled 'I'm Not Picky'. Everything the designer clicks 'Like' to regarding film......and the inevitable dis-'Like'!

'Demon Queen' is seriously deranged. Seems like something I might pick up at a vacation island gift shop...and hopefully not regret later. Might even be jinxed (cue Greg Brady jinxed tiki riff...doo-diddily-doo)

'Walter- F*ck It Dude...' is a very excellent rendering of John Goodman's character from the 'Big Lebowski', man.  

'These Are My Favorite Things'...and I'd totally rock this tee out at the next metal concert I'm at. Gotta love aline nips!

'Hear No Dark Side' .....See No Dark Side.....Speak No Darkside. Fortunately for Leia she doesn't have to try as hard as the others.

It's no secret that Star Man makes Super Mario and his pals 'Invincible'. Perhaps it will do the same for you when  he becomes the star of your midsection.

'Casting' finds that the familiar face behind the Star Wars Wampa snow beast is none other than Harry...the bigfoot from 'Harry & the Hendersons'. Some big shoes to fill but, perfect for the part!

This is Mickey Mouse 'Like You've Never Seen Him Before'! Yep, that's right. Mashed-up with the extra-terrestrial from 'Alien/Aliens' fame. M-I-C-K-E-Y...Y? Because he'd like to eat you! M-O-U-S-E! 

Had Padme lived, Vader might have found himself relegated to average household chores. Here's just one of those medial tasks in  'Household Use of the Force'. Impressive...most impressive.

'Werewolf in the Moon' seems to blend together those bitchin' wolf pack tees with a little sci-fi. This one made me howl with delight! (groan...um...I mean growl)

Spock is churning out dome 'Space Beats' in this hip Star Trek design. Live long and spin vinyl!

...And, without further ado, my absolute favorite this week is Wicket W. Warwick catching some air as only extra-terrestrials tend to do in this E.T./Star Wars mash-up 'E.T. (The Endor Terresstrial)'. Elliot? He don't need no stinkin' Elliot. Eechie Wawa!
