There Is Alien Xenomorph Cosplay... AND THEN THERE IS ALIEN XENOMORPH COSPLAY !!!

I am as much of a fan of cosplay as any other, but there is good cosplay and than there is GREAT COSPLAY. This is an example of great cosplay, and it comes from a source that is extremely close to home for me. Peter Kokis is a performer and builder of fantastic robotic suits of some of your favorite pop culture characters. Think Optimus Prime, The Terminator, the Jaegers from Pacific Rim, etc. And he is based out of Brooklyn, NY... my stomping grounds! His Alien Xenomorph costume may be the very best one yet... and it is super CREEPY! Peter decided to go with the more "warrior" like look of the Alien Xenomorph from Aliens (Alien 2 for you people failing to see the s at the end!) This costume is one of epic proportions, and I can't even begin to get into the specifics of the construct (you can click here for the specs on that particular build). It is the first construct that Peter has made that is not a robot, and shows that he has range as a costume construction expert. And the coolest part: All of Peter's creations can be rented at an hourly rate for performances and appearances. How great is that? The costume took over 400 hours to construct, so giving my dude props here on CCD is the least I can do to show love the Brooklyn way! All Hail The Queen: Amazing Behind The Scene Photos From 'Aliens' Showing Stan Winston & His Team Making FX Magic...

Ever since the release of Prometheus a few months back we have seen an amazing renewal of interest in the Alien movie franchise. I would contend that this connection is made because people wanted to re-visit the older movies after watching the prequel movie (fuck you Jeff... Prometheus IS A FUCKING PREQUEL TO ALIEN!!!)... I know I certainly did, rewatching all four full length Alien movies after watching Prometheus in the theater. When interest in something is shown, a good property owner will put his merchandise into the market to be consumed by eager customers. Take the Stan Winston School of Character Arts and the plethora of unrerleased set phots they released of the master himself (Stan Winston) making movie magic by creating the Alien Queen for Aliens. It is one of the most terrifying creatures ever created, and when you see the massive 10 ft plus monster that Winston created... well, lets just say you will have some great insight into one of the greatest monsters ever to grace a screen. Cartoon Styled Movie Posters by Ive Bastrash

One of my favorite cartoons back in the day was the Beetlejuice cartoon. I loved it because it expanded the universe of the movie and gave us a cool look at some of the awesome characters that were put forth in the movie in a new cartoon style. Artist Ive Bastarsh has taken a cue from the idea of cartoonizing (I know that is not a word... so what?) some of your favorite movies & their characters and came up with a killer series of posters to take a look at what these films would look like if they were cartoons. More 2012 Comic Con Exclusives From Gallery 1988

As we sit on the precipice of San Diego Comic Con one more time, I am getting more and more aggravated by the amazing exclusives that are being offered to con goers. Getting in on the act next is Gallery 1988, the Cali based art mecca who constantly pushes the envelope with their awesome shows monthly. They have tapped artists New Flesh & Mark Englert to produce posters for two of the 80s best Sci Fi movies. New Flesh has created a poster based on The Last Starfighter (a truly underrated movie that most 80s babies like me adore) & Englert created a killer Aliens poster that features the scene when the Xenomorph is expelled by Ripley into space. Both of these poster are of very limited quantity & are only available at the con. Stop bye Gallery 1988 at booth #405. They also have other artists and exclusives appearing, so check them out. Ripley Times 3 by Ross Burt

Ellen Ripley is one of the strongest woman heroes in the history of cinema, and when Ridley Scott decided to make her the star of the show in his seminal 1979 classic Alien he set the mold for what a heroine should be in the future. James Cameron continued the characters bad-assness in Aliens, and then David Fincher shaved her head and put her in an even more precarious situation in his Aliens 3. Artist Ross Burt has decided to highlight the evolution of Ridley in three pieces that he designed for each of the movies, and in honor of the tough as nails chick that she was I decided to post them for you here. 'Demon Queen' is seriously deranged. Seems like something I might pick up at a vacation island gift shop...and hopefully not regret later. Might even be jinxed (cue Greg Brady jinxed tiki riff...doo-diddily-doo)

'Walter- F*ck It Dude...' is a very excellent rendering of John Goodman's character from the 'Big Lebowski', man.  

'These Are My Favorite Things'...and I'd totally rock this tee out at the next metal concert I'm at. Gotta love aline nips!

'Hear No Dark Side' .....See No Dark Side.....Speak No Darkside. Fortunately for Leia she doesn't have to try as hard as the others.

It's no secret that Star Man makes Super Mario and his pals 'Invincible'. Perhaps it will do the same for you when  he becomes the star of your midsection.

'Casting' finds that the familiar face behind the Star Wars Wampa snow beast is none other than Harry...the bigfoot from 'Harry & the Hendersons'. Some big shoes to fill but, perfect for the part!

This is Mickey Mouse 'Like You've Never Seen Him Before'! Yep, that's right. Mashed-up with the extra-terrestrial from 'Alien/Aliens' fame. M-I-C-K-E-Y...Y? Because he'd like to eat you! M-O-U-S-E! 

Had Padme lived, Vader might have found himself relegated to average household chores. Here's just one of those medial tasks in  'Household Use of the Force'. Impressive...most impressive.

'Werewolf in the Moon' seems to blend together those bitchin' wolf pack tees with a little sci-fi. This one made me howl with delight! (groan...um...I mean growl)

Spock is churning out dome 'Space Beats' in this hip Star Trek design. Live long and spin vinyl!

...And, without further ado, my absolute favorite this week is Wicket W. Warwick catching some air as only extra-terrestrials tend to do in this E.T./Star Wars mash-up 'E.T. (The Endor Terresstrial)'. Elliot? He don't need no stinkin' Elliot. Eechie Wawa!
