Threadless Artists Bring The Muppet

If you're our kind of people, than I don't have to remind you that 'The Muppets' film is plushly approaching it's curtain date. In conjunction with the event, our friends over at Threadless.com have compiled a page of all of their Muppet inspired tees in time for you to rush a few out for friends and family to wear to the November 23rd weekend opening date. 'Use Your....Braaaaaains' and recognize a great Zombie war propoganda poster when you see one!

I'm not one to push a political agenda via t-shirt but, 'Politic is Pollution' is just a very cool, stylized design.

'Forbidden Flight' uses the animated style I dig the most to convey the old cliche about pigs flyin'. If you're wearin' this one I guess you'd better make sure you've gotten done all the things you promised to do when this evolution of the airborne hog occurred.

'Let Them Eat Flesh' invokes all that is cool about the 'Pride & Prejudice & Zombie' period mash-up novels.

'Animated Anatomy' is good enough to sell at the theme parks if you ask me!

'Peach Bomb' does a 40's bomber style rendering for an 80's plumber's girl. Ba-Bombs away!

And in keeping with our Super Mario Bros. theme. 'Holy Peach Day of The Dead Tribute' celebrates the Mexican Dia de La Muerte with this iconic homage.

'El Hombre' & 'Villain' bring two Masters of the Universe to life in the cute and lovable Chibi style. I'd be interested in seeing what other residents of Eternia this artist can dream up.

Finally, this week, I'd like to take to place I love the most...pop-culture mash-up....

 In 'Wall ED 209' Dick Jones has got some Disney on his hands with this future-tastic Wall-E/Robocop mash-up

and..by far my favorite design this week 'Sayonara Gingy' pairs up my favorite 'Shrek' character Gingy the Gingerbread Man...with the iconic sequence from the original 'Terminator' film. "I'll be Baked!"

The neat-o polo emblem design contest continues this week over at Threadless ...and here's three that caught my attention.....

'LaZombie' is reminiscent of the LaCoste Gator...only hungrier....much hungrier!

...and 'Zombie Polo' is a great take on the Ralph Lauren Polo design only with a new player on the field.

'Skip the Alligator' includes my favorite 8-bit adventurer, Pitfall Harry in on the pratfalls of a LaCaoste Gator   infested swamp.

'Junk in the Trunk' unexpectedly transforms some of this cross-country traveler's scenery. Love the fatty holding on for his dear life to the trunk carpeting. Tranform...and evacuate!

The 'Mystery Autobot' in question has obviously transformed from the stylish Scooby Doo vehicle...the 'Mystery Machine'. There's a Scooby Doo celebrity mash-up I'd like to see happen.

and there's no mystery as to who's behind this murder by numbers with it's typical cast of so-and-so's in 'Murder Mystery'

'The Birth' of the chest burster from the Alien saga will stop your heart from beating dead in it's tracks!

...and 'Savage Instinct' brings one my favorite DragonBall Z characters Oozaru to life in a delicious shade of purple!

'Raidachu' electrically mashes up two of my  favorite video game icons. Mortal Kombat's Raiden...and Pokemon's Pik-tastic battler Pikachu! Round 1....fight!

Last but, certainly not least my ABSOLUTE favorite this week was 'The Siege' starring my favorite movie theater candy (and sometimes 80's Disney Cartoon characters) the Gummi bears in full-out warfare for color domination. Of his work, the Tee artist had this to say (to my amusement)
"After months of racial tension, the siege of the Red Gummies has begun." Can't all we Gummi's just get along? Or atleast get in my mouth!

'Johnny Who?' Depps abound in this minimalistic homage to Burton & Verbinski's muse. Can you name 'em all from left to right.....

Comical and tragic at the same time. 'Cybertron High Drama Club' enlists the help of the iconic drama mask images to school us in the arts.

'Mistaken Identity' has our favorite Star Wars pilots on target with the man in the moon. Yoo-hoo, Death Star's the other way Rebel scum!

'Police Line-Up' make me feel horrible for my favorite Star Wars snow beast, The Wampa, after he gives Luke a hand in the icy caves of Hoth. Looks like the perpetrator's just been fingered.

'Indiana Monster & The Last Cookie' mashes up two of my favorites  the Harrison Ford adventure epic....and Muppets. (Note to artists...anything plus Muppets equals fantastic!)

 Don't blink or you'll miss the art in 'Flash Minimal Design'. Basic yet super!

Threadless started a Polo shirt contest this week for breast emblem designs and, so far, it's gotten off to a snazzy start!

First, 'Enter The Dragon' Is a pretty neat send off to all that is great about Kug Fu-ery!

Then there's this precursor to the LaCoste gator..... 'The Rex'

...but my favorite Polo design was this Han Solo blaster in 'Han's Polo'...pewn pewn! Han shot first!

Back to the tee designs, my absolute favorite of the week has to this E.T./Alf mash up which was done with  perfection entitled 'Willie's Trip To Melmac'. Makes me hungry for a feline four course meal! A.L.F phone home!

'FRIKKIN Metal Bones' ...OK nerds, is it possible that Wolverine would get electrocuted right down to his core any easier than would a normally-boned human? Either way, this makes for a super-cool t-shirt design!

'Bad Bun in the Oven' Ahh Eating for two? Quick...put your hand here! You can feel the baby eating through my esophagus. Pregnancy is such a bless-ed time.



'Death Star Defensive Systems' It's funny...because it's true!

'Bygones Be Bygones' posits the idea that, possibly with a little more love during the holidays, Freddy and Jason may have been able to overcome their 'demons'...so to speak.
I also love the artists tag-lines.....
"Jason and Freddy confront an even greater TERROR...THEIR PAST!!!"
"It's time for these cult classic FRIGHTMARES to live and let die."

'Nosfera2-D2' ? Creepy mash-up idea for sure...why the hell not!

Not sure why 'Psycho Kong' mashes up murderous horror villain Jason Voorhees and sometimes fun-loving villain-turned hero 'Donkey Kong'...but, I love the attempt!

'Soldier of the Great Empire'...simple....but, galactically fantastic!

'Han Shot First' adds to the controversy of who the original trigger-man was in Episode IV with this Star Wars/Mega Man mash-up. I can almost FEEL that blast moving across the screen at a snail's pace as per the original game series.

I heart 'Doctor V. Hearts J. Kirby'! It's a Star Wars/Marvel mash-up in the style of Jack Kirby's classic comic art of course. Anyway you spell it...it means gloom and doom ...for you!

'Finger Fence Off'...Love Love Love the meek, finger-bladed Edward Scissorhands squaring off against the ferocious antagonist of  dreams. ...and just get a gander at those on-lookers!  Sharp...very sharp!

'Wok, This Way' ...and talk this way "Jub Jub!"

'Spoiler Alert' reveals the twist of the classic Sci Fi film once the lights go out at your place. Genius! Seeing that kid's Kool-Aid smile makes me hope that he had a ton of actual  Kool-Aid to wash that hearty sandwich down once he realizes that it just taTASTES like chicken...but really is people.

What's better than dinner between friends? Dinner between mortal enemies! 'Italian Night' touts just that. Seems like Mario make it. ;)

'The Ultimate Possession' cleverly mashes up two icons of horror Chucky & Billy. If that trike bell starts a ching-chingin' ...best to just move out the way. Or else!
