Lucio Fulci, Revisited....

I have always been a big fan of Italian horror flicks... being the 80s baby that I am. Dario Argento is and always will be one of my favorite directors ever (for his early work, most of his newer stuff is shit!) but my second fave has to be Lucio Fulci. The Beyond, House by the Cemetery, The New York Ripper, Zombie... all classics!Fulci has a very unique style to his films, and that is often conveyed in the AWESOME posters that accompanied his movies to the theaters. They are super rich color-wise and full of key components from the films, and I can't help but assume that Fulci was very involved in the constructing of the posters. My favorite movie theater in NYC, Nighthawk Cinema in Brooklyn, will be hosting a live screening of the Fulci classic 'The Beyond' tonight (tickets still available... get em here) and they have posted a full gallery of Fulci movie posters over at their blog. 'Use Your....Braaaaaains' and recognize a great Zombie war propoganda poster when you see one!

I'm not one to push a political agenda via t-shirt but, 'Politic is Pollution' is just a very cool, stylized design.

'Forbidden Flight' uses the animated style I dig the most to convey the old cliche about pigs flyin'. If you're wearin' this one I guess you'd better make sure you've gotten done all the things you promised to do when this evolution of the airborne hog occurred.

'Let Them Eat Flesh' invokes all that is cool about the 'Pride & Prejudice & Zombie' period mash-up novels.

'Animated Anatomy' is good enough to sell at the theme parks if you ask me!

'Peach Bomb' does a 40's bomber style rendering for an 80's plumber's girl. Ba-Bombs away!

And in keeping with our Super Mario Bros. theme. 'Holy Peach Day of The Dead Tribute' celebrates the Mexican Dia de La Muerte with this iconic homage.

'El Hombre' & 'Villain' bring two Masters of the Universe to life in the cute and lovable Chibi style. I'd be interested in seeing what other residents of Eternia this artist can dream up.

Finally, this week, I'd like to take to place I love the most...pop-culture mash-up....

 In 'Wall ED 209' Dick Jones has got some Disney on his hands with this future-tastic Wall-E/Robocop mash-up

and..by far my favorite design this week 'Sayonara Gingy' pairs up my favorite 'Shrek' character Gingy the Gingerbread Man...with the iconic sequence from the original 'Terminator' film. "I'll be Baked!"

The neat-o polo emblem design contest continues this week over at Threadless ...and here's three that caught my attention.....

'LaZombie' is reminiscent of the LaCoste Gator...only hungrier....much hungrier!

...and 'Zombie Polo' is a great take on the Ralph Lauren Polo design only with a new player on the field.

'Skip the Alligator' includes my favorite 8-bit adventurer, Pitfall Harry in on the pratfalls of a LaCaoste Gator   infested swamp.

'Junk in the Trunk' unexpectedly transforms some of this cross-country traveler's scenery. Love the fatty holding on for his dear life to the trunk carpeting. Tranform...and evacuate!

The 'Mystery Autobot' in question has obviously transformed from the stylish Scooby Doo vehicle...the 'Mystery Machine'. There's a Scooby Doo celebrity mash-up I'd like to see happen.

and there's no mystery as to who's behind this murder by numbers with it's typical cast of so-and-so's in 'Murder Mystery'

'The Birth' of the chest burster from the Alien saga will stop your heart from beating dead in it's tracks!

...and 'Savage Instinct' brings one my favorite DragonBall Z characters Oozaru to life in a delicious shade of purple!

'Raidachu' electrically mashes up two of my  favorite video game icons. Mortal Kombat's Raiden...and Pokemon's Pik-tastic battler Pikachu! Round 1....fight!

Last but, certainly not least my ABSOLUTE favorite this week was 'The Siege' starring my favorite movie theater candy (and sometimes 80's Disney Cartoon characters) the Gummi bears in full-out warfare for color domination. Of his work, the Tee artist had this to say (to my amusement)
"After months of racial tension, the siege of the Red Gummies has begun." Can't all we Gummi's just get along? Or atleast get in my mouth!

'Ionie' looks kinda like the Kid Robot 'Munny' collectibles. I think that might be what this artist was going for...I can dig it!

'Zom-Bot'....Why didn't I think of that!

In 'Clowing Around' I'm pretty sure those are zombies ripping apart a clown and making balloon animals out of his innards. That does NOT suck!

'I'll Be Back To The Future' Somebody PLEASE greenlight this movie....pleeeease. 

'Robo-Tussin' makes me wanna be sick...in a good way.

'Mynock Hunt' is one of my favorite NES games mashed-up with the power cable chewing flyers of 'Empire Strikes Back'....set for stun!
