Batman vs The Terminator - A Fan Film For The Ages !!!

Mash-ups can be tedious at times... just cause you have two really cool characters, doesn't really mean they will necessarily work well together. Even if they seem like a born match. Usually the best mash-ups are the ones you don't really see coming... the ones you DON'T think would work so effectively. That is the case with this crazy ass fan film I found over at Comic Alliance called Batman vs The Terminator... yup, that is correct: The Caped Crusader taking on the most dangerous machines of all time. Yup, that is something I can definitely say I never thought I would see mashed up and something that was happily created by Tony Guerrero (writer) and Mitchell Hammond (animator). This is pretty fantastic, a true labor of love by two guys who really wanted to get their vision out into the world. They have a cool blog where they documented the process. I hope to see more than just this 5 minute clip in the future. But for now, this will have to do. Movie Characters Get The Manga Makeover Courtesy Of Matsuda Yuusuke

Manga is not exactly my cup of tea... I don't particularly enjoy the style of art that is often employed in Manga books. But I do like the looks of some of that stuff... especially when the characters that are being drawn are to familiar to me. Japanese artist Matsuda Yuusuke does a great job converting some of my most favorite classic movie characters into Manga versions of themselves, and it makes a world of difference in garnering my interest. Hellboy, Hellraiser, Predator, Robocop, Alien, & Terminator all get the makeover, and some of them are really cool (especially the Alien one). Surprising Dutch! by Benjamin Carre

Every once in a blue an artist finds a very exciting way to mash up two properties in a way that is awesome and makes you wonder how come you never thought of that. Enter artist Benjamin Carre. He decided that if the Predator couldn't get a shot at killing Arnold as his character Dutch from the film, maybe he could catch Arnold slipping in another role.... in this case a T-800. How cool would it be if old Dread Head tracked down John Matrix, Conan, Ben Rodgers, Julius, Quaid/Hauser and Det. John Kimble and repeatedly ripped out their spines? 'Use Your....Braaaaaains' and recognize a great Zombie war propoganda poster when you see one!

I'm not one to push a political agenda via t-shirt but, 'Politic is Pollution' is just a very cool, stylized design.

'Forbidden Flight' uses the animated style I dig the most to convey the old cliche about pigs flyin'. If you're wearin' this one I guess you'd better make sure you've gotten done all the things you promised to do when this evolution of the airborne hog occurred.

'Let Them Eat Flesh' invokes all that is cool about the 'Pride & Prejudice & Zombie' period mash-up novels.

'Animated Anatomy' is good enough to sell at the theme parks if you ask me!

'Peach Bomb' does a 40's bomber style rendering for an 80's plumber's girl. Ba-Bombs away!

And in keeping with our Super Mario Bros. theme. 'Holy Peach Day of The Dead Tribute' celebrates the Mexican Dia de La Muerte with this iconic homage.

'El Hombre' & 'Villain' bring two Masters of the Universe to life in the cute and lovable Chibi style. I'd be interested in seeing what other residents of Eternia this artist can dream up.

Finally, this week, I'd like to take to place I love the most...pop-culture mash-up....

 In 'Wall ED 209' Dick Jones has got some Disney on his hands with this future-tastic Wall-E/Robocop mash-up

and..by far my favorite design this week 'Sayonara Gingy' pairs up my favorite 'Shrek' character Gingy the Gingerbread Man...with the iconic sequence from the original 'Terminator' film. "I'll be Baked!"

Johnny & Uncle Bob by Ninja Ink

Artist Ninja Ink flips the Calvin & Hobbes buddy concept on it's ear with these awesome pieces depicting Johnny & his Uncle Bob from The Terminator series. I love these two pictures. Here is a brief synopsis from Ninja Ink's Deviant Art page talking about his fictionalized comic strip:

Johnny and Uncle Bob is a syndicated daily comic strip that was written and illustrated by American cartoonist James Cameron, and syndicated from October 26, 1984 to August 29, 1997. It follows the humorous antics of John, a foul mouthed six-year-old boy messiah, and Uncle Bob, his stoic robot friend. The strip depicts John's flights of fantasy and his friendship with Uncle Bob, and also examines John's relationships with his mother and psychiatrists. Uncle Bob's dual nature is a defining motif for the strip: to John, Uncle Bob is a cybernetic organism surrounded by living tissue; all the other characters see him as a time travelling villain.

And if ya enjoy the undead, as mush as I do, (wait...that didn't sound exactly right) than maybe you'll enjoy 'Zombie in Space' In space? Of course! Where else (complete with flesh nibbling, space-suited flies)
