Achy Breaky Heart 2? Yup, That Happened...

Does society know no limits and boundaries? Is there no humility, no shame, no decency? Come ON! Billy Ray Cyrus was a joke of a musician, a one hit wonder. His Achy Breaky Heart is the worst kind of one hit wonder songs, because it has not a single redeeming quality in it when you look back on it. Often times you can look back on a one ht wonder and be like " Yeah, it sucks now... but back then it was the shit!". Not Achy Breaky Heart... that one sucked always and forever! Then he parlayed that shot song to ride the coattails of his Disney Channel starring daughter as the guest star on her show. She became a huge star, making herself and Billy lots of money. So when the show ended, you think this guy would fade away and enjoy all the money he never really earned so his daughter can be the star now, right? Nope, not this douche. He has been trying to stay relevant for years, which is a tough feat for someone who has never been relevant in the first place. So here is his latest attempt at stardom... and at the same time, a shot at his twerk-tastic sexpot daughter who doesn't want much to do with him. He has recorded a RAP REMIX of Achy breaky Heart (I can't beleive I just typed that... fml), complete with flashback sequences, fake alien ships, and bikini clad twerking (of course they are) sluts. The girls are the only saving grace of this video. They are hot, no sense in denying that. But Billy Ray looks like a member of the LPGA on his way to the Kotex Open with his KD Lang bob, and that tubby redneck black dude needs to quit before I remove the neon rope from around the brim of his cowboy hat and choke him with it. This is just as awful as it gets, and that is why I share it with you. I bring it to you so that you can mock him, ridicule him, and have a laugh at his expense because this dick is the worst kind of attention whore... the kind that actually thinks he is doing quality musical work. Jon Marco's 'Rhianna' Music Video Is Pretty Amazing...

... Even if the song is absolutely shit. I don't really know much about Jon Marco the musician... the guy seems to have an OK voice but this song is not really my cup of tea. But he uses some green screen magic and fantastic editing to take a magnificent journey through the best movies of the late 70s and early 80s while chasing his fantasy girl. Really cool concept that is executed extremely well despite the fact that they probably had a non existent budget. I don't know about the lyrics, but the video will put a smile on the face of any fan of these great generation of movies. Check out the video after the jump...

CCD Links It Up Vol #16

It is about that time once again... time to check out what is going on around the Internet and see what others are sharing. This week we got some really interesting stuff to share, from cool ass art work to toy like furniture for your very own adult house. 1) My boy Sean Hartter has teamed up with my favorite horror blog Freddy In Space to create a cool ass poster for a toy that never existed, The Evil Dead Lincoln Log playset! I always love Hartter's insane thinking outside the box for his creative creations, and I hope this one will be offered at The Freddy In Space Society 6 shop (they got some great prints for sale there).

2) I have never been a huge fan of playing with Legos, but thanks to my good buddy Jeff Bond I have developed a certain affinity for the stackable toys. But one of the coolest crossover products I have seen in  a long time has to be the storage boxes that come from Room Copenhagen's Fab.com shop. These storage pieces are shaped like Lego bricks, stack accordingly, and happen to be cool as shit. If you are a fan of Legos, this is what you need to furnish your apartment with. All shapes and sizes available!   

3) With the Oscars on the horizon I have had movies on the brain. I came across a pretty cool article over at The Week that takes a look inside the minds of our Commander In Chief's and which movies were their favorites. A great read on the cusp of the pinnacle of the movie year...

4) I am absolutely obsessed with The Alabama Shakes. Their first album is fantastic, and I love everything about their first single 'Hold On'. I love the basic nature of the video, the fact that they highlight singer Brittany Howard despite the fact that she is not the traditional attractive looking front woman, and the fact that she sounds A LOT like Janis Joplin to me. Great video...

Big Pun - Rest In Peace

One of the greatest rappers of all time has to be be Christopher Lee Rios, aka Big Pun. Making his first appearance on Fat Joe's jealous Ones Envy album back in 1995 and then blazing numerous guest spots and albums of his own, the giant size rapper faded out into a sad early death at the tender age of of 28. He is single handily responsible for some of the greatest one liners in rap history, and made some severely underrated and high quality albums in his short time in the spotlight. Can you really ever say 'Boricua... Morena, Boricua... Morena' and not have someone instantly know what song you are talking about? Pun is an icon of my teenage years and one of my favorite artists to this very day. In honor of the 13th anniversary of his death, I am sharing my top 5 of his awesome videos after the jump. Happy Munn-Day!!!

Happy Munn-Day people... hows it going? Sometimes when you want to celebrate how great someone is, you have to look back to where they started. Olivia Munn is my personal celeb crush, but I didn't really know a whole lot about her early career pre Attack of the Show. So thanks to the magic of the internet (specifically Wikipedia) I found out that Ms. Munn actually starred in a music video for rock band Zebrahead for their song "Hello Tomorrow" and I just hand to check it out. Even though the video comes from back in 2005, Ms. Munn is still looking quite sexy as a video vixen. God I love my little sushi roll... Check out the video after the jump.

Why Is Dad So Mad? by The Board of Education

When you are a geek you love to uncover little nuggets of cool shit to rub in your friends faces and proclaim yourself  a more accomplished geek among your friends. But as you get older and have kids, you take much more pride in seeing your kids make good decisions about geek properties. Case in point: Star Wars. While I am a fan of the prequels, to me the original trilogy reigns supreme. Imagine how proud of my nine year old I am when he tells people that Empire Strikes Back is his favorite of the six... it's better than him making the honor role!!! The kiddies are the future though, so I bet it is a bit confusing to them when they see us get so disgusted with something threatening one of our beloved properties. Enter the kids musical group The Board of Education, who have created a song entitled "Why Is Dad So Mad"  to help our kids understand why we curse George Lucas so much about something we supposedly love... Thanks to fellow proud poppa Joe Fletch for sending me this. Now if I could only get Mikey to understand why Voltron is so much better than the Power Rangers...

How Have I Never Seen This Before???

Holy fucking hell... how have I never seen this??? As a purveyor of the Internet and someone always seeking out weird and wacky stuff, I do not know how I never saw this rap video from Dan Aykroyd & Tom Hanks entitled "City of Crime" from the Dragnet soundtrack. I fucking love Dragnet... it is such a campy classic that I revisit it often. But I had no idea that this video existed... Jesus!!!It was brought to my attention when I read an article on Yahoo Music by Rob O'Connor (click here to see it) highlighting the 25 worst rap performances ever. How the fuck did they get TOM HANKS & DAN AYKROYD to dance around like buffoons and recite these ridiculous lyrics with straight faces??? I know this was long before Hanks was Mr. Oscar perennial front runner, but he was still a pretty big name in Hollywood. This could have derailed his career FOREVER if the Internet was around back in the late 80s/early90s... This is by far the best 3 minutes I have spent in a long time!!! Cool Music: Fun ft Janelle Monae - We Are Young

When it comes to music, I have a bit of a varied taste. I like many different styles of music, and also music from many different eras. But I have a weak spot that often leads me to scorn and criticism from people... and that weakness happens to be pop music. I love pop music, and the cheesier the better. I don't know what it is, but it's the appeal of a song that gets constant radio play. I don't like all pop songs... it's not like I am easily brainwashed. But a good pop song, that is catchy and makes you know the words after just hearing it a few times... that is true musical magic!!! Take this new group, Fun. This song "We Are Young" is super fucking cool, and it has that pop appeal that is getting it major spins. Dope. Than I got to see the music video for the track, and I loved the song even more. Bar fights, slow motion violence, bottle breaking... insane!!! Check out this as kicking video after the jump...

Ok Go & Chevy Team Up To Produce One Of The Most original Music Videos Ever!!!

The guys from OK Go made their careers on gimicky videos that highlight tons of physical stunts and are super fucking cool to watch. I will never forget seeing their "Here It Goes Again" video for the fist time and watching it with my mouth open wondering how the fuck these guys weren't cracking their heads open. You may not like their music, but to say they don't make innovative videos is just crazy. Now the guys have teamed up with Chevy to use their new compact car the Sonic to play their instruments for the new song "Needing/Getting". yeah, I said that right. They use a car to play the instruments. Are these guys fucking serious? Here is the synoposis:

 "The new music video from OK Go, made in partnership with Chevrolet. OK Go set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles. A Chevy Sonic was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of Needing/Getting, singing as they played the instrument array with the car. The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording. There are no ringers or stand-ins; Damian took stunt driving lessons. Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they'd play the right note no matter where they were struck. Wu-Tang Wednesday: Gab Gotcha - Humility

Well, today is Wednesday... so it must be time for Wu Tang!!!! It's our weekly celebration of everything Wu, so lets get it cracking. I have been patiently waiting to see what the next generation of Wu Tang would come to represent. Even though the old guard is still making music, eventually they are going to have to infuse some new blood into the mix. Enter Gab Gotcha, a Hispanic rapper that was signed by Rza to Wu Tang Records with an album ready to drop on Dec. 7th. In true independant/Wu Tang style, they went with an animated (cheaper to make) video for his lead single 'Humility'. The animation is kinda cool and the song has a hot beat, and the boy Gab spits fire on it. I am interested to hear what my fellow Wu heads have to say about this one (Joe, Fletch, anyone... please comment below!). Check out the full video after the jump...

R.I.P Heavy D... A True Rap Legend

I was deeply saddened by the untimely death of one of my favorite rappers of all time, Heavy D. Heavy was a true pioneer of the game and one of the first rappers I remember listening to as a kid. He was also a fave of mine because he was a big boy... but that big boy could dance his ass off!!! Despite the fact he was a tad bit fatter then other rappers, my man Heav was smooth as shit with the ladies and could outdance just about any motherfucker in the game. He opened the doors for future chubby rappers like Notorious BIG and Big Pun, breaking stereotypes as only a true pioneer could. As a young chubster myself, I looked to him for inspiration when it came to getting fresh for a fat guy. Heavy was the fucking man... and its sad to see him go at just 44 years old. Rest in peace Big Guy... the girls will always love you!!!

Wu Tang Wednesday - Gza - Living In The World Today

It's Wu-Tang Wednesday again, and I had to feature one of my favorite MC's of the group. Gza is probably the best lyricist of the group (overall) and his memorable lines always had me hitting rewind, staring at the radio in awe. This is one of my favorite tracks of his Liquid Swords album, and I knew I had to get it up here on Wu-Tang Wednesday so that you can remember just how much of a boss my man Gza is. Enjoy.
