'I'd Buy That...As a Tee!' Vol 27

Always on the look out for inspiring art... emblazoned across the chest of humanity. Here's some of the t-shirts I have my eye on to do just the trick but, there's only one problem....they aren't for sale yet! Please click the links below to the Threadless.com voting pages for each and give these beauties '5' ratings so I can throw 'em on my charge card one day.

'Return of the Living Dead' has got the evolution (de-evolution ?) of man down to a science. It's as simple as putting 1 foot in front of the other!

'Ninja Attack' excellent art style + Ninjas....need I say more?

'Le Petit Plombier' mashes up the world's favoritest little video game plumber with the world's most beloved little prince....to my delight!

My little China girl says ...sshhh oh baby, just shut your pretty mouth in this 'Kokeshi Doll Tee'

Boo! 'The Neverending Story' mashes up the Pixar classic 'Monster's Inc.' with one of my childhood favorites, 'The Neverending Story'. Love a good-monster mash-up!

'Sally Quinn' seems to be infatuated with Linus' Joker in this Peanuts/Gotham mash-up. Why so serious!?

'The Rail-Splitter' suits the 'Great Emancipator' up in a mech robot for some clobberin' time!

...and 'Arkham Zoo' has all the animals of the Asylum lined up for visitor's to see. I've seen this same bat-idea before but love this new bat-style!

Lock up your 5 year olds, when 'The Purple Dino Raged'! I'm no huge fan of Barney but I love this design and it loves me....we're a happy fam-i-ly!

'Beat 8bit' is another mash-up design I've seen before but never done this well. This one makes me wish the honchos over at the game studios that currently own these 2 licenses get together and make this tile-invasion a reality!

KA-BOOM! Here's a badass design that homages the great action film sequences of yester-year. Close your eyes and you can just picture Cruise, Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Eastwood etc. doing 'The Walk Away' unscathed from this one!

Finally this week we have yet another tie for my favorites.....

First up, it looks like Disney's opened the vault on another batch of their classic films that were taken off shelves for their usual 8 year hiatus....but this time these have gone rotten, zombie style, in the tee entitled....'Return of the Classics'

And last but, certainly, not least, 'Walk of Shame' kicks Smurfette out of the 3-apple high bed in the morning. That Papa kinda almost has a Quagmire-like grin to him if you ask me. Giggity Giggity! Get right in there, Papa!

Til next time, tee-ny boppers! Remember to vote!

I Wish I Could Have Seen This Neverending Story Themed Art Show

Early last month the Georgia based  art collective known as Magic Is Science presented a art showcase that featured work inspired by The Neverending Story. The Neverending Story is one of the greatest movies of the 80s and still holds up so well... it's one of my all time faves. I wish I could see more of the art that was featured, but after the jump you will see a few of the pieces I was able to track down, including a Atreyu action figure and a Falcor stuffed sculpture that are fantastic. Click after the jump for the pics...

From artist Sam Mitchell's website:

A major toy line was never created for The NeverEnding Story. Children from the 80s (and now) weren't allowed to recreate their favorite scenes from this awesome movie (Falcor flying, Bastian screaming "Moonchild", Artax drowning, etc...). What if there had been a toy line This custom card design is based on the original Kenner Star Wars line. The action figure is a repainted Tonto figure from Gabriel. The Gmork image is from the Chronicles of Narnia: Wer-Wolf figure.

Both of the above two paintings were from Sam Mitchell as well.

What If Movie Posters Told The Truth???

The guys over at Cracked are alot funnier then me (shit... I would be funnier to if this was my FULL TIME GIG... fuck you Cracked staff!!!) and came up with these phenomenal movie posters. But instead of all the smoke & mirrors Hollywood usually feeds us, these are going to actually TELL THE TRUTH about said film. There are a bunch, but these are our favorites. You can see the rest by clicking here.

Artist Spotlight: Eduardo San Gil

Check out some more works from one of CCD's new favorite artists, Mr Eduardo San Gil.

First up, we have 'The Last Flight' which features characters from The Never-ending Story,  E.T., and Harry Potter. Wonderful, just wonderful.

Next up, we got 'Secret Life' which features Charlie Chaplin as a Droog from 'A Clockwork Orange'. Excellent... just excellent.

Keep up the great work Eduardo... we look forward to seeing much more from you in the future.
