Wow, These Crazy Ecuadorians Really Know How To Party On New Years Eve!!!

When my boy Edson sends me an email with a tip for CCD, I usually pay close attention. This is exactly the reason why. Edson sent me this crazy email from over at io9 (damn corporate blogs with their funding and their traveling staff... wait, what?) about the practices of people in Ecuador prior to the New Year. In villages all over the country the people construct huge paper & wood figures known as "Anos Viejos" (Old Years) to be burnt in celebration of the change in calendar. But here is the thing that makes these paper constructs so fucking cool... they make them in all types of images, especially nerdy fanboy faves!!! Don't believe me? I'd Buy That...As a Tee!

Spring has sprung and I could use a few new unique T-Shirts to really make a statement without saying a word. A Statement like "I'm a geek that doesn't take much of anything seriously...I'm approachable and easily abused." 'Recessionopoly'- Since I started this post, this one actually got the votes it needed to become a bonafide Threadless tee! I'm posting it anyway because pairing up my favoritest board game ever with a horrible time in the U.S. economy is financial genius!...I'm a large by the way ;)

'Jedi Bug Zapper'- ZZZzzAP!

'Back to the Jurassic'- This one is for my boy, Glenn. I'm sure he'd find a zillion reasons why a 'Back to the Future 4' in the vein of Jurassic Park would be a Hollywood disaster. I'd argue that, if done correctly, this would make a great place (time?) for Marty and friends to land the DeLorean....but as a simple tee? A stroke of genius worthy of Doc Brown himself!

'Anti Genetic Engineering'- Simple...it was the contrasting title that sold me on this one, though.

'Papa Smurf the Barbarian'- I saw this one and imagined it would be a great on real-life Smurfologist and friend of CCD, Matt Murray, as he debated the fine art of Smurfery with his peers. Heck...if he don't rock it, I wilst!

'Disintegrator'- (pewn..pewn!) Reminds me of what Vader told Boba Fett..."...no disintegrations!"

'AT-ST'- The birth of the 'Chicken Walker'

'Le Bouquet'- Sadly, scoring on this one has ended. Too soon to tell whether it's made it to the big leagues but I still love it's 'assassin with a heart' spirit which reminds me of the film 'Leon: The Professional' a bit. Classy!

'Walk Like An Egyptian'- Star Wars meets Camel cigs in this fun and iconic mash-up.

'Abduction'- The purple (my fave-o-rite color) is what caught my on this this piece first...but, ya gotta love a good alien abduction...even when they're snatching up whales!

'Sharkquestrian'- This one is just completely f*cked. I love it! Killer!

'Han Deckard'- I'd have called this Handiana Deckjolo but, the artist hit his mark with this Harrison Ford iconary.

'King Louis'- The Orangutan emperor of Disney's 'The Jungle Book' is getting his just desserts in this mash up with  his historical french counterpart. This is the one I'D rock on our Disney Road Trip of 2011 if I could.

Meet the Smurfs, Greet The Smurfs

A few months ago, I wrote a post about the upcoming live action Smurf movie that most fans of the 80's seem to be excited for. Yesterday they released the first actual picture of the CGI Smurfs... and they look pretty good. Here we see Grouchy, Papa, and Clumsy hitting up Time Square n a scene from the movie. You think they ate lunch at BuBBa Gumps Shrimp Company or Carmines??? Anyway, they also released a teaser trailer, and I am sure Jeff Bond has a bit of a nerd boner... but it would have been a lot bigger nerd boner had Smurfette been in the trailer. Ain't that right Jeff??? The cast on this is phenomenal, with Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays and Hank Azaria all playing live action roles and voice skills from Allan Cummings, Paul Ruebens, Anton Yelchin, and George Lopez as well as many more bringing the Smurfs to life. This film hits in Summer 2011, so lets hope for the best on this one. Enjoy the trailer below.
