How about some Luke Cage... as played by The Rock? Just because I would watch anything the Rock is in and he has the action chops to pull this off. A side movie maybe with Iron Fist - Heroes for Hire doing their street level thing as the Avengers go all Cosmic. The same war, just different battlefields. Sean Hartter's Halloween Movie Poster Round Up - Part 1

My main man Sean Hartter is the real deal Holyfield when it comes to re-creating movie posters. The guy just has an unbelievable knack for being extremely creative in the way he re-imagines the marketing material for films. With the state of shit that the film poster industry is in now (if I see one more poster with floating heads or the hero in an action pose I am going to die!) it is refreshing to see someone like Hartter giving a new take on things. Seean decided to give himself a little challenge this month and create 31 unique pieces in honor of Halloween. He picked some classic films that most people know (like Halloween or Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and also some obscure gems (like Rawhead Rex & Haxan) that will have you searching out the films themselves to see for the first time. Today we will be looking at entries 1-15, tomorrow entries 16-31, and Wednesday (Halloween)   you guys get treated to a special piece made just for us here at CCD!!! Fake Criterions Go Halloween!!!!

Fake Criterions is a brilliant idea for a blog. Instead of honoring fantastic movies with a stellar DVD/Blu Ray release choc full of extras and cool art (which the real Criterion Collection does), these guys decide to honor fan favorites with fake covers that would never make the real cut. They then expand a cool idea into even greater depths by using the month of October to shine a light on horror movies. They call this month 'Faked From The Dead' and feature some great covers for classic horror movies that don't get enough mainstream love. There are the ones that people know like The Shining, but also many smaller, obscure titles like The Poughkeepsie Tapes (one really sick film). Reservoir Dogs by Ibraheem Youssef

I love alternate movie posters, probably because of the fact that the majority of movie posters put out officially these days suck. They do not take the time to create a witty, thought provoking image that is representative of an aspect of the film... nope, now most of the time we get a bunch of floating heads and slanted backgrounds (why is this so popular now?). Gone are the days of painted images, iconic posters, and important artistic contributions... but the Internet has brought those days back, albeit in a non official capacity. Ibraheem Youssef has some killer work on his website from a plethora of films, but the one that stood out to me had to be his Reservoir Dogs poster, so that is the one I chose to focus on featuring today. The Kessel Run by Old Red Jalopy

There is a science to creating a faux movie poster, especially one in which you plan on using popular characters. You have to put these well known characters into a mash-up situation that befits their own characteristics but is also going to make fans of the original smile at how witty you are. The gang over at Old Red Jalopy are some of the best at this... and they have struck gold once again. I saw 'The Kessel Run' poster over at SuperPunch and I immediately giggled to myself and thought what a great idea this was. Click after the jump for the full size picture and some more thoughts...

The great Star Wars race, The Kessel Run, given a "Cannonball Run" feel with the font and the ensemble cast... how great of an idea is that? And much like Burt Reynolds's awesome car in Cannonball, nobody is possibly gonna keep up with the Flacon baby... What a great poster!!! Great job fellas... keep it coming!!!
