Marvel Zombies Fan Made Trailer

Believe it or not, there was a series of successful mini-series based on this exact premise. All the Marvel heroes have become zombies and are eating each other. It's as gruesome as you would hope for and something that was a nice shot of creativity until they basically beat the concept to death. But after watching this trailer, I would totally watch this film. Release it next Halloween and it would be bigger than the microchip. These covers of iconic Marvel moments in all their gruesome zombie glory are by Arthur Suydam. He really found his groove with these ones.

Marvel Zombies is a five-issue limited series published from December 2005 to April 2006 by Marvel Comics. The series was written by Robert Kirkman with art by Sean Phillips and covers by Arthur Suydam. It was the first series in the Marvel Zombies series of related stories. The story is set in an alternate universe where the world's superhero population has been infected with a virus which turned them into zombies. The series was spun out of events of the "Crossover" story-arc of Ultimate Fantastic Four, where the zombie Reed Richards tricked his Ultimate counterpart into opening a portal to the zombie universe.

Halloween Movies For The Scardy Cat In All Of Us

After reading Brother Tim's review of Lost Boys I was thinking about some of the films I would recommend for any Horror Film Fest. Now you have to remember that I am like a frightened little girl when it comes to scary films. I like my scares to be a bit safer than the poor souls who get hacked up by some chainsaw wielding maniac after taking a bad turn down a back country road. Torture Horror is also a part of the genre that I avoid except for the first Saw movie which I found to be ground breaking. Most people have a limit as to violence and gore and I chose my list with that in mind. There will scare, disturb but in the end you will have fun with your loved ones. I hope there is at least one in the group you have not seen.




Ginger Snaps - A coming of age werewolf tale that somehow combines female menstruation and a monster curse. For a small indie film, this one delivers the goods. Bonus points for being a Canadian film.


Silence Of The Lambs - True horror films get to you on a visceral level. No movie freaked me out in the theatre more than SOTL. I include Seven with this one as a perfect psycho double feature.


Lost Boys - You would think that the formula was a no-brainer after the success of this one in the 80s but have you seen another vampire film that you enjoyed as much in the theatre? Even the soundtrack remains memorable 30 years later.


Frailty - I don't know if this qualifies as a horror film but from the way it made me feel uncomfortable for weeks after I saw it, it deserves a place on my list.


Fright Night - A great story, a truly scary vampire villain and an Oscar worthy role for film vet Roddy McDowall all combine to make this one a fun winner. Less violent than you remember but much scarier.


Trick or Treat - I wish there were more of these films released every Halloween. Find some hot new directors and give them twenty minutes to tell one part of a larger collected story like Trick or Treat did so well. There is room for this kind of film in the marketplace not only for families to enjoy but us others who like their scares on the light side.


Creepshow - was the original Trick or Treat and told some fun scary stories. I still have a fear of being buried up to my neck in sand as the tide comes in. But this is a genre of movie I would watch every damn Halloween, the short horror movie no scarier than a horror comic book. There is a place for that amongst all the splatter porn out there.


The Mist - I list this movie purely for it's ending which stuck with me a long time. For a dumb giant bug movie, this one hit the mark. It creates such a sense of dread that it can only have a bad ending for all....and it does - probably the saddest ending I have ever seen in a movie and that is saying a lot. I have been told that watching this one in black and white makes it an even better movie than it already is.


Saw - While I admire the ingenuity of the deaths in the entire Saw series, there is nothing that could have shocked me more than the BIG reveal near the end of this first film. It was brilliant and terrifying in ways I still can't understand. I am not a fan of torture films like this but they deserve their place on any such movie list.


Final Destination - I am a big fan of creative mayhem in this series and the way that the deaths are designed for these films, which are often shockingly fun - jump out of your seat fun. I have some thing about watching stupid teenagers thinking they can outsmart DEATH. But that is why they need to be killed in a bizarre and interesting manner. These are the movies that I let take me to that gruesome place because they are like live action Looney Tunes cartoons.

Batman Noir by Henrik Sahlstrom

I am always on the look out for dope version of my favorite character, Batman, from talented artists around the web. I found a great set of noir styled pics over at Cal's Canadian Cave of Cool done by artist Henrik Sahlstrom. There are four so far in the series... Batman, Cat Woman, and then two of my favorite villains in the Rouge's Gallery: Joker & The Riddler. These are really dark and beautiful. Thanks for another great find Cal. Canadian Delicacy Comes To McDonalds

Poutine is a Québécois dish consisting of gravy and cheese curd over French fries. It’s popular in Canada, where it’s eaten as fast food and a comfort food. McDonald’s restaurants in Quebec sell it. But now the company plans to make poutine available in all McDonald’s outlets throughout Canada. A serving will cost $3.99. Check out more pics after the jump...

You know that the actual food product will look nothing like any pictures taken of them by the company but the actual product does look edible...to a cold Canadian during a spell of - 30 degree weather. It would be great after a game of Curling for sure though it's tough to pass up a curling club cheeseburger.

Now I can finally say to someone who asks what it is - "Just shut up and eat your Poutine, boy. It's good for you."

Carpool Buddies Of Doom by Justin Jordan & Rafer Roberts

Web comics are killing it right now... and why wouldn't they? They are super easy to upload and distribute to the masses, and once one gets a bit of traction on Reddit, Tumblr or one of the other sharing websites it just tends to snowball. Last week we highlighted a killer take on Batman called The Deal, and this week we take a funny look at 'Carpool Buddies of Doom'. Carpool Buddies focuses on the daily commute of two of the worst villains in the history of comics, Thanos and Darkseid. It is smartly written by Justin Jordan and illustrated by Rafer Roberts. Pretty great... and in the second installment they throw in Doctor Doom to the group to make things even funnier! Great find by my main man Cal, and I will certainly be looking out for more to come from the duo on their site. Check out the first two installments after the jump....

Variant X-Men Covers By Julian Totino Tedesco

All New X-Men has been a book that has been intriguing me for a bit now. Started about a year and a half ago, it tells the story of the original X-Men team of the 60s coming forward in the future and interacting with themselves (and other current X-Men) in order to help stop a potential disaster from occurring. It has recently lead up to the company wide crossover 'Battle of the Atom' and it is supposed to be fantastic. One of the coolest aspects of the books are the little winks and nods to the original OG series... some subtle, some obvious. So here are a few variant covers of issue #18 that kind of parody an original cover of the old X-Men, except these variants all feature different groupings of mutants to fill out their rosters. Pretty cool stuff, and a book that I plan on checking out now that they have a few issues under their belt (and are appearing in trades!) Check out all the variant covers after the jump...

Halloween Hangover - Massive Halloween Image Blizzard

Halloween has come and gone, and boy am I sad. It is by far my favorite time of year and definitely my favorite holiday. So as I sit here a few days removed and anticipating another year of waiting for Halloween 2014 to come around, I lean towards my Canadian brother Kal for images to put a smile on his face.
