The Dr. Suess - Jurassic Park Themed Hotel That Can't Possibly Be Part Of a Major Hotel Chain.. But Is!

Chain hotels tend to be just that... links in a a chain. They are cookie cutter, exactly alike, and a word like unique is not often used to describe them. Holiday Inn, Best Western, Days Inn... no matter where you are in the country, if you walk into one of these places than you are basically going to see more of the exact same things. The lobbies are identical, the rooms are furnished the same, and the rates are about the same no matter where you go. Truly not unique. Unless you go to the Best Western in Denver.. than you are in for a treat!!! The BW in Denver decided to convert their hotel to a themed resort... not only one theme, but two! They love Dr. Suess, and they love dinosaurs... so why not make Suesstastic Park!!! Yup, the whole hotel has a dinosaur theme with a Suess-ian twist. This is so amazing, and even more impressive when you realize that you are getting such a unique experience while paying the same price as most other Best Westerns (around 90-100 a night). One of the coolest aspects has to be that they contacted awesome toy customizer Sillof to create some figures to display around the property that adopt the characteristics of what a Dr. Suess designed dinosaur would look like. Now This Is The Kind Of Shit I Would Do If I Had Celebrity Money...

I love when I hear things like this. Artist and action figure customizer Sillof does some unreal work, especially with Star Wars as the subject. He has done all types of customization to Star wars figures such as Steampunk Wars, Medieval Wars, and even Samurai Wars (which we featured way back when here on CCD...)... but his most recent collaboration is by far the coolest thing I ever heard. Uber nerd and amazing actor/comedian Patton Oswald has reached out to Sillof and commissioned him to create a line of Star Wars figures as if the characters were designed by Russ Meyer (called Faster Empire! Strike! Strike!... get it). What does that mean for the Wars figures? Well, first off it means all the dude characters are being restructured to be buxom beauties, and Leia gets the dude treatment (lots of chicks in Meyer's film, not so many dudes) and the characters have a real 60s/70s feel to them. He even designed a vehicle for the crew, a hot rod type car that would obviously replace The Millennium Falcon. Oswald deserves major props for taking some of that Justified & King of Queens money and teaming up with an artists as talented as Sillof to give us great geek action figures. He also dedicated the line of toys to Roger Ebert, who recently passed away and was the writer of the script for Meyer's classic Beyond The Valley of The Dolls. All in all a cool collabo (click here for even more pics), and definitely something I would do if I had a bunch of celeb money burning a hole in my pocket...  

Custom Action Figures Courtesy Of Popsfartberger

I was over at my boy Johnny's awesome horror site Freddy In Space when I came across some unreal custom action figures that he discovered on Ebay. The name of the seller is Popsfartberger... and to be honest I don't know what is cooler, the fact that his custom action figures are unreal or that his only name listed is Popsfartberger!!! Anywho, the actual custom figures are insane and feature some of the dopest movie characters of all time. Even though they can be kind of expensive (they average around 49.00 bucks) when you take into consideration that you are getting a custom 3 3/4 inch action figure as well as a spectacularly designed front and back backing card.... well, the money/cost starts to make a ton of sense. he has a ton of figures on his Ebay page (click here to see his wares) and they feature a Buy It Now price so you won't have to worry about haggling with other auction users. This is a great gift for any real fan of these films, so keep them in mind for future gift purchases. I featured the ones I liked the best personally after the jump...

Francisco Herrera Style Customized Hulk Figure by Loose Collector

I do not have much experience in the toy field other than buying the coolest ones I can possibly find for my 9 year old son. I do however love to look at all the cool stuff that is available now-a-days and there are certainly plenty of things to look at. But not only are actually licensed items cooler than ever, so are customized figures. Loose Collector is one of the best in the customization game, and his latest project is nothing short of a miracle. He decided to take a Monkey Man base figure and create a customized Francisco Herrera styled Incredible Hulk figure that is simply gorgeous. I love the coloring and way that LC really captured the essence of Herrera's Hulk. You can see some awesome pictures after the jump...
