Is 'What We Do In The Shadows' The Next 'Shaun of the Dead' ???

Shaun of the Dead is one of my favorite movies. It introduced the world to actors Nick Frost, Simon Pegg and director Edgar Wright... even though some where slightly familiar with them from a little British TV show called Spaced. The movie took a horrifying concept (a zombie outbreak) and added comedic twists to make the movie quite an adventure. It is a zany look at what people might ACTUALLY do in the terrible urgency of a Zombie Outbreak... and it is absolutely hysterical. Well another movie has come along that threatens to show a funnier side to another monster menace (this time vampires). And this one might even be funnier than Shaun of the Dead!!! 'What We Do In The Shadows' comes from the minds of Taika Waititi and Jermaine Clement. They are the men behind the brilliant but underrated HBO TV show 'Flight of the Concords' and the romantic comedy 'Eagle vs Shark'... and they are bloody brilliant when it comes to quirky comedy. The New Zealanders team up once again to show the regular folks in the world what goes on in a house occupied by 3 Vampires. Viago, Vlad, and Deacon are three vampires of varying ages that have become housemates for eternity. In order to spice up their lives they decided to invite a documentary crew to follow them along and portray how vampires really live. But soon after they meet a super young vampire named Nick... and he is not down with the traditional living ideals of the trio and urges them to try some new stuff. The results seem to be quite humorous... and have a great buzz building around it after a solid showing at Sundance Film Festival. Maybe it can doe for Waititi & Clement what it did for the likes of Wright, Pegg, and Frost. I for one am anticipating it, and it is going to be released sometime this year pending who ends up with the rights to it... check out the full trailer for a small taste of what is in store for you!

Frank Browning & Freddy In Space Bring Us Some Tasty Horror Themed Ice Cream Treats in Series 4 Of 'Ben & Jerry's Horror Ice Cream Flavors'

I have frequently talked up my buddy Johnny's excellent horror website, Freddy In Space. The thing that Johnny does that makes his site so fantastic is that he knows he is the small guy on the block... in other words, there are many horror based web sites that are corporate run and have much more access to things than he does. But what he lacks in funding and access he makes up for in originality... and boy does Johnny have originality by the ton. Johnny has come up with tons of original posts, and they are unique to his blog. That what makes the Freddy In Space experience so fantastic. This summer Johnny teamed up with artist Frank Browning to come up with some awesomely horrific tasty treats... well at least mock ups of them anyway. There have been three series so far. You can see them here, here and here. But now its time for round 4... and these are some great ones! Shaun of the Dead: Lego-ized & Stylized

Shaun of the Dead is one of my favorite movies of the past decade. I loved that freaking movie so much it hurts. It also helped introduce the world to actors Nick Frost & Simon Pegg, and director Edgar Wright. So how cool is it to come across a re-creation of the tavern in the film, The Winchester, made entirely of Legos? Pretty fucking cool... lol. Not only can you enjoy many detailed pics after the jump, but you can also learn how to create the set itself by clicking on this step by step website. Gallery 1988 Presents Crazy 4 Cult In NYC... And CCD Was There!!!

The CCD crew decided to venture into Manhattan and check out the Gallery 1988 art show Craxzy 4 Cult for ourselves on its opening night last week. It is a dope show, and my only knock on it was that it was in too small a space. People who were waiting to buy prints and pieces formed a line along one whole side of the gallery and prevented people from seeing that half of the show. But for the pieces that I did get a shot to see... all I can say is wow! There are some great pieces in the show, and I had to bust out the camera on my tablet to take some photos for all of you guys to see for yourself. It was crazy packed and hard to take pics, but I did my best. Not all of these will appear online (some are featured over at gallery 1988's website and many other sites like ours) so this might be the only chance you get to see it.
