Vice and 'The Conjuring' Production Team Present: The 3:07 Project

There are so many cool things out there on the interwebs that sometimes things just go unnoticed by you no matter how interested you may be in the subject matter. I am a huge fan of horror films and love to follow my buddy John Squires on all of the various horror sites he writes for (Fearnet, Kumbaya, and especially his blog Freddy In Space!). But Johnny does so much blogging that sometimes things fall through the cracks. The 3:07 Project is one of those cases. The gang over at Vice teamed up with the productions team of this summers major horror hit film The Conjuring to come up with a short film series from some up and coming directors that focus around 3:07 AM... the Devil's Hour. For those of you who have seen The Conjuring you know that this time plays a prominent role in the story, as this is the time when supernatural and spiritual behavior is at its height. They didn't play no games, tapping four very talented directors to take on this subject matter. Nacho Vigalando (Time Crimes), Ti West (House of the Devil), Max Landis (son of John Landis, screenwriter of Chronicle), and Jason Eisner (Hobo with a Shotgun) all have their own short entry... and you can catch all four of them in one short 7 minute video after the jump. Mondo Does It Again... This Time With A LP and Poster For Nacho Vigalando's 'Timecrimes'

Mondo has built a solid reputation for creating cool collectibles and enjoying monster team ups with some of the best properties in the world. So when they do something cool, it is not really that shocking... but yet they continue to outdo themselves with every email announcing their next collaboration. Last month it was their Duck Tales the Videogame posters (we previewed them here), and now they have done it again. They are highlighting the awesomeness of Nacho Vigalando's Timecrimes, one of the greatest time travel movies I have ever seen. This underrated and not-seen-nearly-enough film is one of the greatest gems I have ever discovered on Netflix Instant (stream it now!). Now Mondo is upping the cool quotient of this film by releasing a vinyl LP (I know a bunch of kids are like "WTF is that???") of the soundtrack that was put together by Eugenio Mira. The artwork of the LP cover (interior fold out and exteriors covers) provided by We Buy Your Kids. They have also created a poster (duh... it's Mondo) based on the artwork of the record. Both will be announced for sale on Mondo's Twitter account today (Friday, Sept. 27th) at some random time... so click here and follow them to get the alert if you want to own this piece of vinyl or the poster. A To Z Blogger Challenge 2013: Day 20 - T Is For Time Crimes

I have featured some pretty popular movies and actresses so far on this road through the 2013 A to Z Blogger Challenge, but now I am taking a turn down a more obscure path. Time Crimes (its streaming on netflix...get too it) is one of the most surprising movies I have ever seen in my life. I was so taken aback by it after I watched it, that I watched it immediately watched it again... yup, right back to back. The premise is insane, and executed so well by director Nacho Vigalando. He really does the whole time travel theme a real service, and pairing TC with recent films like Looper, Source Code, and Primer shows that there is originality in this oft used trope. One of the best parts about this Spanish import is the cast. I love unfamiliar foreign casts, but I was especially smitten by Barbara Goenaga, who plays the girl in the woods. Her character is so important to the whole movie storyline, and her looks make her much harder to take her eyes off. All in all, a great movie, a fantastic cast, and another hot chick in the list of hotties used here in the A to Z Blogger Challenge. The ABC's of Death: 26 Ways To Die... Choose One!!!!

This is a very interesting anthology horror film project from the gang over at Magnet. 26 different directors. 26 short films. Shot in 15 countries around the globe. All of the clips having one thing in common: they deal with death in some way, shape or form. There are some great directors on this list (check out the list after the jump), from Nacho Vigalondo to Ti West. My interest is piqued. Magnet has been hitting homers left & right lately (Tucker & Dale vs Evil, V/H/S, The Innkeepers) so I will definitely give it a shot. It will be hitting a limited theatrical run and VOD towards the end of January. Enjoy the trailer after the jump....

Super Crooks: The Most Logical Idea Involving Super Powers In The History Of Comics

Mark Millar & Leinil Yu are two of the biggest names in the comic book industry. Like em or hate em, these guys can do pretty much whatever they want. So why not team up and try to come up with a great idea for a comic? Well, they did... and it may be the most logical idea I have ever heard for a story that is based on superheroes and super villains. In all the craziness and bizarre ideas that pollute most comics, how come nobody ever thought so simple? Click after the jump for a full explanation of the comic (which is out this week) and a cool promo video from director Nacho Vigalando (if you haven't seen Time Crimes, you better fix that ASAP) who will actually be directing a film version of the series due out some time next year. This one is gonna be epic...



Millar always wondered why these dumb ass super criminals constantly try to pull off crimes and capers in cities like Metropolis & Gotham City where they can be thwarted by the likes of Superman & Batman. Why not try to steal something of value somewhere devoid of a superhero champion... like say, Spain perhaps????

"A gang of super-villains decide to go and pull the biggest heist of their career in Spain because, let’s face it, there’s no Captain Spain. Stylistically, it’s like a Guy Ritchie movie or ‘Thunderbolt and Lightfoot,’ a gang of very likeable, blue collar thieves who just hit on a good idea and try to make some dough after years of getting busted by the superheroes. It’s basically the X-Men meets Ocean’s 11 and I think that’s what excited Platt’s office because it’s a great chance for a big ensemble cast and I always like these fish out of water stories.
