The New Yorker Celebrates The Greatness of 'Breaking Bad' With A Cartoon Cover...

As I enter my mid 30s (begrudgingly) my taste in magazines has started to grow to things a it more diverse than Sports Illustrated, Maxim, Slam and XXL. I am looking for intelligent magazines that give me a great mix of entertainment and news stories that I want to read. Back in the day most magazines would be either one or the other... you wouldn't see a story about a TV show running alongside a political piece just pages away from each other. But this is the era of gratification to everybody, all the time. So why would magazine content be any different? The cover of this weeks issue comes in honor of Breaking Bad, and it is in the New Yorker's traditional cartoon style... big heads and all. This is very cool, and fitting to honor such a great show. I really like that they moved Jesse to the forefront and Walt as the concern parent in the background. It also may just vault the New Yorker into my weekly magazine rotation. We shall see. Rick & The Gang Are About To Get Governed!!! Season 3 Of The Walking Dead Is Back From Winter Break...

As we ease back into the regular TV programming schedule there are certain shows which stick out as high points among those returning from winter hiatus. Arrow is one I am really looking forward too. Once Upon A Time as well. And it is going to be nice to finish Supernatural as a series once this season finishes up the series. But one show I can't wait to get finished has to be The Walking Dead over at AMC. Rick and the gang rescued Glenn and Maggie from the grips of the Governor, delivered Daryl into the sadistic hands of his brother Merle, and has seen the Governor condemn Merle & Daryl as traitors pitted against each other in a fight to the death. We also are left with the appearance of Tyrese (one of my favorite characters in the comics), but left me a bit weary because it is clear that his story on the TV show is going to be quite different then the path he took in the comics. The Walking Dead To Re-screen Episodes In Black & White? Yes Please!!!!!

One of the coolest things about The Walking Dead comic books has to be the fact that Robert Kirkman & Tony Moore decided to do the comic in black and white. It adds a level of creepiness to the story and helps mute some of the over the top blood, guts & gore that occupy Rick & the gangs world. Last year the premiere episode of the TV show was re-aired in black & white as an homage to the comic and it went over gangbusters. So AMC has decided to roll the dice and re-air the first two seasons of the show in its entirety in black and white as well. As someone who enjoys both the original comics and has saw the first episode in black & white, I for one am thrilled. I can't wait to revisit the TV version again in this altered state. The re-airngs will be taking place starting February 14th. Check out the first episode opening scene in black & white and make sure to tune into AMC this February for a whole new take on the show...

Proof That There Is A God: Alexis Bledel Edition

Alexis Bledel has grown up a lot since Gilmore Girls, as fans of Mad Men can certainly attest to. she shared some of the sexiest scenes on this past season of the AMC hit, and she did it despite having to find a way to make scummy Pete an object of sexual affection. That is a true miracle in itself. Her gorgeous blue eyes have always been a highlight for me, and I think she is a truly gorgeous young women. Check the photos after the jump. Damn you Pete... I Can't Wait...

Mad Men Season 5 is right around the corner, coming to your TV on March 25th. This is very late for the AMC hit show, which usually airs around the summertime. Considering that this is the first season I will be watching in real time (I caught up on seasons 1-4 via Netflix Instant), I am starting to get antsy. In order to sedate the public's needs of everything Draper & Co, AMC has released little teaser clips for all the key returning characters of the show. Even though I can't wait to see all of them together, these 30 second teasers are certainly getting the juices flowing. Especially the ice queen January Jones & her fiery redheaded counterpart Christina Hendricks... my god I miss Betty & Joan!!! So, The Walking Dead Season 2 Is Shaping Up Rather Nicely

The first photos of the zombies that are plaguing the gang in The Walking Dead season 2 have surfaced... and boy oh boy, these scary mofo's look wonderful!!! Despite rumors of all the writers being fired and massive budget cuts, it seems to be (from this one photo anyway!) that the show is right on track.

I didn't really understand why AMC would mess with the show period though... it doesn't make much sense, does it? This is a network with two of the highest regarded dramas that currently air on TV (Mad Men & Breaking Bad) and successfully cultivated another hit out of a zombie plague comic book series. These guys at AMC have been right time after time (except for Rubicon... I want the 10 hours I gave up to watch that piece of shit back!!!), so I would let them do WHATEVER they want with their shows. Lets just keep this one on the up and up, ok? Because The Walking Dead is one of the best shows on TV... period.

Kevin Smith Gets A Reality Show

Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash

Seems like AMC is going to continue their recent epic success, even though they are heading in a different direction. Known for quality original programing like Breaking Bad, Mad Men and The Walking Dead, it seems they are going in a different direction then usual. Kevin Smith has talked on Twitter and his website about a new reality show he is developing that centers around his comic book store, Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash. Dubbed a "Pawn Stars for Fanboys", the show will focus on the goings on inside the crazy comic book shop and will also feature the store purchasing interesting memorabilia from fanboys & girls. Wow, a reality show that I might actually want to watch.... Hmmmmm.

I like the idea, and if they can have some cool stuff on display then I'm all for it. I have been to Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash in Red Bank, NJ... and all I can say is that the place is epic. It's a huge comic shop that also sells tons of Smith movie-related memorabilia. They have the original full size Bluntmobile from Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back right in the middle of the store, as well as a ton of other Smith movie props. One of the coolest things they sell is all the T-shirts that any of the characters in Smith's movies have worn. They have them all... thats where I got my 'Count Cockula' & Moby employee shirts from Clerks 2. Smith also drops off autographed material and mixes it in with the regular stuff for no additional charge. That is so cool. I got a Mallrats movie companion book that was autographed by Smith for LESS THEN COVER PRICE. What other star does cool shit like that? Not many.

The reality show will be shooting over this summer and may appear sometime in the Fall 2011/Winter2012 TV cycle, so stay tuned for more details. I for one definitely will be. OHC of the Day: January Jones

Whoa... hold on a second. Before I get hit with all types of backlash for featuring January Jones in the OBSCURE HOT CHICK category, at least let me explain my thought process. Sure, Ms. Jones is stunning and has been on the hit show 'Mad Men' for the past four years now. Here is the thing though... I don't watch 'Mad Men' and since that is pretty much all this gorgeous specimen has done besides a bazillion magazine spreads (... and I know I am not the only one who doesn't watch the show), than doesn't that qualify her? 'Mad Men' is the most successful show that I know about that so many people say they want to watch but don't. Maybe it's because its a summer show, maybe because it's on AMC. I'm not sure... but now Season 5 has been delayed. That means more time for January to explore more film projects. In the past off season she has been quite busy and now she has a full slate of movie releases ready for this year. First up on June 3rd, she takes on the role as the sexy Emma Frost in 'X-Men: First Class'... and given the penchant that Frost has for wearing sexy clothing, I am quite excited. Then she will star alongside Liam Nielsen & Diane Kruger in 'Unknown', which is being billed as another 'Taken' type movie for Nielsen (and that one was super successful). Finally sometime in 2011, she has a starring role alongside Nic Cage & Guy Pearce in 'The Hungry Rabbit Jumps'.  That one sounds really crazy. These film projects are what will put January Jones over the top and make that beautiful face much more recognizable.  Eventually, 'Mad Men' will be back for season 5... 'til then try to let these pics tide you over!
