OHC of the Day: Willa Holland

Willa Holland is no newbie to the game of Hollywood. Not by a long shot  So why is she todays Obscure Hot Chick of the day? because she is finally coming into her own by playing the sister of Oliver Queen, the title character of the new CW hit Arrow. Funny thing is that Willa is basically Hollywood royalty. Her step dad is Brian De Palma... yup, that Brian De Palma. She has been acting for quite a bit, playing Mischa Barton's little sister on The O.C. and as a guest star on Gossip Girl. She has also been in some films, like the remake of Straw Dogs (really good flick) and Legion (another pretty good flick). Those films did not have an overwhelming amount of success, so people may have missed the lovely Willa. But if you tune in to Arrow you will see her as Thea Queen, aka Speedy, and all of the beauty that she has to give. I am interested to see if Thea will ever develop into the 'Speedy' of the comic books, aka Green Arrow's sidekick. But with eyes like that and a smile that sparkles, either way as long as i get more of her I will be totally happy. enjoy the pics after the jump...

Marion Cotillard Comes Clean... Or Does She?

Marion Cotillard was faced with a tough assignment when doing the press for The Dark Knight Rises. She played Talia Al Ghul, the real villain in the movie. But she was given the cover role of Miranda Tate, Wayne Enterprise board member to protect the secrecy of the role. But that meant that she had to lie to any press member who asked her about her character or the movie itself. MTV Splash Page host Josh Horowitz sat down with her recently and pulled out his Ipad to show her how she bold face lied to him, and the results are kind of hilarious. Probably not what Horowitz was expecting... and good to see that Cotillard could be a good sport about the whole thing. Cool video after the jump...

CCD Links It Up: Vol #11

Today's edition of CCD Links It Up takes us on a very interesting journey. I have become completely enamored by ZergNet (you all have seen the links on the bottom of some of your favorite webpages) and their offbeat lists and stories. I am sharing a few of them with you today. Also, who knew that Vanessa Lachey was still so f'n hot? I sure didn't, and that Nick Lachey is one lucky mofo for having Jessica Simpson in her prime and now this stunning Spanish beauty. What did this cornball ever do o deserve such luck? Enjoy the links after the jump....

1) As we close in on the 70th anniversary of Casablanca, here is a cool list of 5 things that you might not know about the amazing movie. I need to watch this one again. It has been way to long.

2) I am a horror movie nut, but I have only seen 1 of the 5 movies listed on this list of must watch obscure horror movies. I do love older horror films so I will be seeking out the other four, and it is about time for me to give Near Dark a second look.

3) Good Lawd, how did Vanessa Lachey (formerly Manillo) stay this fucking hot for this fucking long? Good god, this chic is super hot and this spread is right on the money. Wowsers...

4) Tickets for CCD's collaboration with Tugg Inc to bring Bad Santa to the big screen this holiday season are on sale right now. We have to sell 70 tickets before December 13th to get the screening greenlit, so lets get cracking and buy some tickets!!!!

5) This is fantastic list of 10 movies that you should probably watch before seeing Django Unchained this Christmas. Tarantino is known for taking bits and pieces from his favorite movies and sprinkling them into his own flicks, so now you can see where the influences for his newest film came from.

6) Another great list, this one is 15 TV characters who should have been killed off of their respective shows. The reason why I like this list is because the lister takes the time to explain just why she thinks the characters should have been killed off, even if you think they were ok characters or too important to kill. Pretty cool list...

'Memorize': A Short Film by Eric Ramberg

This is an absolute amazing short film from director Eric Ramberg that is in the vein of Minority Report, Blade Runner and The Running Man. Whenever you throw around sci mainstays like that, it better be good. And Memorize is just that.... very good! We follow someone who seems to be a cop for the SSU (Special Surveillance Unit) on a mission to track down some potential murder suspects. He uses the memory chip that each suspect has in the head to re-trace their memories and lead him closer and closer to the main bad guy he is trying to seek out. Along the way we get some excellent gun violence, some cool hologram technology, and a great overall narrative from a relatively short (7 min) film. It also leaves off on a sort of cliffhanger so Ramberg could revisit the subjects and see how it goes from here. A perfect short film, if you ask me . Check it out in full after the jump...

Hellnuts 2 by Raid 71

I love some good geek art, but really love some good geek art that was created for a good cause. There is an English charity entitled Artists V Cancer that is selling some majorly cool geek prints and original pieces of art in order to raise money for the fight against cancer. There are many cool pieces available (click here to see the full show run), but the one that stood out to me came from artist Raid 71. It is called Hellnuts 2 and re-imagines some of Mike Mignola's Hellboy characters as the Peanut gang. Well thought out and executed, this is a killer piece. And to get one of the 100 prints created for the show it will only cost you 35 bucks... and it is for a good cause. Click the above link and pick up a piece to support the cancer battle, and click after the jump to see a bigger version of the Hellnuts 2 poster...

CCD Presents: A One Time Screening Of Bad Santa!!!

I have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to work with Tugg, a new company that allows you to schedule one night only showings of some fantastic films on the big screen at your neighborhood movie theater. We have had a few false starts, but we have finally came to an agreement on our first joint venture. CCD is proud to team with Tugg to present the classic raunchy Christmas comedy Bad Santa!!! Watch Billy Bob Thorton & the late, great Bernie Mac fill the screen with drunken hi jinks and debauchery for one night on the big screen... the show will take place on Tuesday December 18th at 7:30 pm at the AMC  Loews Village 7 in Manhattan. The catch is this: The screening will only take place if a certain amount of tickets are presold. That number is 70 (since I will be purchasing 2 myself) and the number has to be reached by December 13th. We need your support to get this screening going, so click here (or on the flyer in the sidebar) and head over to the Tugg page in order to purchase your tickets now.You will only be charged when the ticket count reaches 72. If the screening does not take place because we fail to reach the minimum number of tickets sold, you will never be charged at all. I hope to see all of you guys there, and that this is the first of many screenings we partner with Tugg to hold in the future. I am also looking forward to seeing the cool artwork that Tommy Lombardozzi and Sean Hartter are working on. for the screening. Hopefully we can get some prints made and have them for sale the night of the show!!! Click after the jump for some flyers designed by the incomparable Lockheed Lee after the jump...

Stephen King Meets The Comics

A couple of months ago I came into possession of a certain hard drive that happened to have 770 Gigabytes of digital comics on it, basically containing the full run of everything Marvel printed from the early 60's to present (thank you JF... you are the man!). There was also a ton of other stuff on there, including comics from other companies and various other cool tidbits. One of those tidbits happened to be all of the books Stephen King has written in a digital format that I can read on my tablet. the reason why this is so great is because I have read almost all of King's books in my teenage years... but I am eager to revisit them again. Doing so through the traditional format of books would be costly and take up lots of space in my house, so  these digitized versions will definitely be coming in handy. I am planning a great Stephen King re-read project for 2013... and I can't be happier! That was until I stumbled upon an old column over at Comic Book Resources in the section called The Line Is Drawn that mashed up Stephen King stories & characters with comic books. What a great fucking idea!!! You can see the full list of submissions by clicking here, but you can see the ones from the books I love the best after the jump. These submissions are all very creative and bring back a lot of memories... can't wait to relive them once again!
