Horror on the television screen is nothing new... hell, there have been horror themed TV shows since the 1950s! But with the genre exploding on TV now (The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, The Strain... shall I go on?) we decided this would be a perfect subject for our next CCD art show. So we put together the Small Screams: Terror From The TV art show, which will take place on Saturday October 22nd at the Irish Haven.

Rob welcomed Mike D and Tommy Lombardozzi (both have pieces in the show) down to the CCD Nerd Cave to discuss TV Horror over the years and preview some of the subjects that were adapted into pieces for the show. if you love horror TV give this one a listen!

The CDD Podcast: Episode #59 - CCD's Favorite Album Covers or "We Have The Record Show Collection Art Show Coming Up So This Topic Seemed To Make A Lot of Sense..."

No matter what at some point in peoples lives music plays an integral part in developing their identity. This identity sticks with them throughout their lives, and while musical taste may change (for better or worse...lol) as we get older, the one thing that remains are those seminal albums that formed us as music lovers. Album covers have always played a huge part in this. The album cover is the most universally recognizable tie in for fans of an album. Some might like certain songs, or some may argue which album they like best from an artist. But the one uniform thing all people share would be the album covers. They tie it all together for everyone. While this may not be the case anymore due to most people consuming digital music (who knows what the newly released album covers are anymore?!?), for us growing up in the pre-digital revolution these album covers were works of art that we will cherish for ever. So we decided to make that the theme of our next group art show, The CCD Record Collection... and also thought it would make a great topic for a round table podcast discussion! The CCD Podcast: Episode #45 - "In Defense Of..." Vol. 2 or "Trust Us, Not Rotten Tomatoes.... This Movie Is A Classic!"

We are barreling towards our big Episode #50 EXTRAVAGANZA and we are very excited, so this week we decided to re-visit one of the more popular topics of an early episode and see if lightning can strike twice. In our previous "In Defense Of..." episode of the show Jedi Rob (Ghostbusters 2), Mike D (Michael Bay) and Joey Esq (Return of the Jedi) each laid out a perfectly crafted argument extolling the merits of their above clients.Ya see, a movie/director/actor-actress doesn't necessarily have to be BAD or A BOMB to be defended. Nope.... in this age of Internet trolling even classic films get a bum rap on certain aspects. Afterward compelling arguments were made, and lots of chatter occurred with people over the 'Net about our opinions. So we are going back to do it again... Jedi Rob (Super Mario Brothers: The Movie), Mike D (Hudson Hawk), and Tommy Lombardozzi (Last Action Hero) all go to bat for things that they love but others may loathe. It was another great episode! Another Excellent CCD Art & Supply Art Show In The Books... Here Are The Pieces!

On Saturday February 7th The CCD Art & Supply Co. put on our 2nd live art show at the Irish Haven in Brooklyn, and boy it was something special. The St. Valentine's Day Massacre: Mob Movies... In Blood Red was a perfect show theme to fit with this time of year. All that lovey dovey nonsense isn't our style here at CCD... we decided to pay homage to our favorite Mob movies in honor of the monstrous gangland slaying ordered by Al Capone. We picked out 16 artists, and the 16 classic mob movies. We put them in a randomizer... and after the assignments were given the rest was history. We got 16 killer (pun intended) pieces, and the night of the show we were fortunate enough to sell 14 out of 16 pieces. 14 OUT OF 16!!! That is just too dope... to dope indeed! It was a big night for The CCD Art & Supply Co. and we have made some insane connections with the hope of putting on even more killer events in the future. The CCD Podcast: Episode #41 - The St. Valentine's Day Massacre Art Show or "The CCD Art & Supply Co. Sure Do Know How To Throw A Party!"

We here at CCD have branched out into a few different directions with the hope of expanding our "brand" in the next few years. In addition to the cool ass blog which we know you all love (wink, wink) we have started and awesome podcast and an artist collective know as The CCD Art & Supply Co. Basically we are trying to take over each avenue of entertainment one medium at a time. In October of 2014 we hosted our first ever live art show, and Monsters, Maniacs and Mayhem was a huge success. 14 artists create 14 original paintings based on the best Universal Horror Films of all time. The show was a raving success, with 9 out 14 artists selling their original pieces and tons of prints moving as well. We immediately planned our second show, and since it was falling around the Valentine's Day holiday we decided to give it a little CCD inspired flair. The show will take place on 2/7/15 and is called: The St. Valentine's Day Masscre: Mob Movies... in BLOOD RED! 16 artist have turned in 16 amazing pieces featuring characters from a plethora of mafia classic films... and the results are AMAZING! This podcast focuses on those movies that are a part of the show as well as touching on the individual artists who created these masterpieces. A perfect appetizer before the main course on Saturday night.

CCD Interviews: Live From The Show Floor Of The 2014 NY Comic Con - Fat Guy Inc. Doing It BIG On The Main Floor!!!!

Most of the CCD gang is on the chubby side... we are proud of that. Hell, even the skinny guys down with our crew put on when it comes to throwing down food. It may be one of our favorite things to do as a group (especially Tommy & I). So when I came across an interesting looking artist booth with a couple of guys who look ALOT like me sitting behind it I had to walk over. And when I saw the name of the company... well, Fat Guy Inc. certainly has an appeal to a guy of my size!!!! Brendan & Peat are two Long Island residents that were  brought together through food... and now that they are a team, they are taking the art show/con circuit by storm! They have some great pieces, and the coolest part is that their styles are different but work well together at the same time. These guys are hysterical, and the art is pretty amazing. They refer to their collected works as 'an artistic stew', considering they have many different styles and mediums that they work with. One of my favorite pieces was a scene from Star Wars, which was after the destruction of Uncle Owen & Aunt Beru's house. The is a smoldering pile of what can only be assumed to be a Beru/Owen souffle, and Brendan refered to this piece as "A Tatooine BBQ". Hysterical... and all food related! CCD Interviews: Live From The Show Floor Of The 2014 NY Comic Con - Ray Arcadio, Artist Supreme!

We meet lots of people on our adventures with the CCD press pass, but none as cool and as down to Earth as our good friend Ray Arcadio. Ray is an extremely talented artist that we met & interviewed at the 2013 NY Comic Con and stayed in touch with. His work is very unique, specifically his awesome takes on the traditional "happy face" pieces in which he re-designs tons of pop culture characters into the circular happy faces we have seen so often. What he ends up with is often way cooler than any smiley face you have ever seen, that is for sure. Ray has jumped into more complex pieces since we encountered him last year, and his new works for the 14 NYCC are unreal... or should I say, TOO REAL!!!! They feature many pop culture staples (The Walking Dead, Star Wars, Groot, etc) but with a realistic twist... specifically in the teeth. This guy can draw some detailed mouths & teeth. Wow. My favorite of his new pieces has to be his Michonne with her companions, which we find out is not one large canvas but actually three individual canvases assembled into a larger frame. The Michonne is raised higher than the two Walkers, giving it the 3-D feeling that she is actually "LEADING" them out of the frame! Totally rad idea, from a truly creative force (this dude makes his own fucking frames? C'mon man!). Check out more of Ray Arcadio's work by clicking over here and heading to his website. CCD Had It's First Art Show... And It Was A Perfect Way To Kick Off All Horror Week For 2014!!!

Wow... it came fast, and it went just as quick!!! CCD planned it's first ever art show... and boy was it a doozy! Monsters, Maniacs and Mayhem: A Black & White Tribute To The Golden Age of Universal Horror Films saw us pick 15 of the greatest Universal Horror movies of the 30s, 40s, and 50s and ask some of our most artistic friends to do their best rendition of the characters. The result? 14 amazing pieces (one artist, who shall remain nameless CHRIS, did not get his piece done in time) that came out insanely good!!! All the classics are represented, as well as some lesser known characters. We worked with some close friends of the CCD family (Tommy Lombardozzi, Lockheed Lee, and Joey Esq) as well as some new ones (Liza Biggers, Erle Tompkins, and Al Accettura)... but there was one thing that all the artists had in common: All the pieces were AMAZING!!!! We even got a show poster courtesy of Sean 'Create Ink' Hamilton, of the legendary League of Geekz podcast! Best part of the whole night was that 9 out of the 14 original pieces sold!!! An overall successful night, the first of many to come from this new group of artists down with the CCD Fam. Thanks to the Irish Haven, all the artists involved, and all that helped out with this great event. We will have many more art shows to come in the future.
