Mike Vazquez Has Some Dope SD Comic Con 2014 Exclusives Ready For The Show!!!

We are on the cusp of this years San Diego Comic Con, and show exclusives from everyone involved are starting to crop up all in our Feedly feed. One of the coolest ones so far mashes up what will probably be 2 of the biggest comic book movies of 2014: Days of Future Past & Guardians of the Galaxy. Artist Mike Vasquez abandons his typical Adventure Time inspired creations to create a variant cover/poster that features everyone's favorite Raccoon in the role of Wolverine and the rest of the Guardians supporting cast on the posters behind him. He means business, and this is a great interpretation of the classic cover of issue X-Men #141. The piece was a combined effort creation between Vasquez and LogicFun (an artist from France who colored the piece). Vasquez also has some dope stickers featuring Groot, Star Lord Gamorra and Rocket (yeah, no Drax... weird), and a bunch of team Adventure Time inspired prints (Friday is Nintendo characters, Saturday is Guardians, and Sunday is Spidey & the Sinister 6) that are limited and only available at Vasquez's table. He also has a cool 35 page sketch book available for purchase. As someone who has followed Vasquez's art for a while, you will be blown away by both the look of the pieces as well as the quality of the prints. X-Men: Days of Future Past Featuring The 70s Biggest Movie Stars by Peter Stults

I have features some of Peter Stults works here on CCD before, and whenever I see one of his new pieces posted online I am instantly reminded of my good friend Sean Hartter's works. We lost Sean way to soon (RIP brother) but the truth of the matter is that his style of wok lives on in guys like Stults's work. Stults channels that 'Alternate Reality' universe that Hartter perfected by subbing in crazy casting choices for movies of today featuring the stars of yesteryear. Can you imagine a X-Men: Days of Future Past featuring the 70s biggest and brightest? How about Al Pacino as Wolverine, or Julie Christie as Mystique? What about Terrance Stamp/ Lawrence Olivier as Old/Young Magneto, and Anthony Hopkins/John Gieguld as Old/Young Xavier? And Jim Kelly... Black Belt Jones himself... as BISHOP? Even Though We Got A Shit Ton Of Characters In Days of Future Past, They Wanted To Give Us Even More!!!!

So a lot of the characters that made there way into X-Men: Days of Future Past were placed in there to correct continuity errors in the last few movies, lay groundwork for future movies, and of course to sell more merchandise. But despite that fact that we seen over 20 X-Men, many villains, and probably a few hidden gems (I see you little Cable... I see you) there were a few characters that got left on the cutting room floor. One of the was Juggernaut... played pretty great by Vinnie Jones in the train wreck that was X-Men: The Last Stand. He got some cool screen time, and I for one would have liked him back. But since he didn't make the cut, there is no harm in leaking a few concept art pics on how he may have looked in the "future". There are two pics, both full body shots that are quite similar but show different masks that he may have sported. I like the look... it is very much like the comic version, modernized & practical. And its minus the giant dome piece (which I always loved, but looks dumb as shit). Check the two pics after the jump...

The CCD Podcast Episode #3- "Transition Into Cox"

Wolverine - The Musical !!!

Ya see... all that Broadway acting and those musical roles that Hugh Jackman has taken throughout the years is finally paying dividends. Wolverine is the character that Jackman will always be associated with, but his love for theater and music can finally be brought together with the superhero we all know and love. While promoting X-Men: Days of Future Past over on BBC Radio (on the Matt Edmonson show) Hugh busted down some original 'Wolvie' themed lyrics in a rendition of 'Who Am I' from his other theatrical smash Les Miserable. Can this marriage between the smash mouth world of superhero films and musicals bare any fruit? Maybe... maybe not. But this 2 minute clip certainly entertained me enough to garner my interest.
