#DarkSideNYC May Be The Funniest/Nerdiest Street Ad Campaign Ever...

What a perfect way to celebrate Star Wars day today. These propaganda posters started popping up all over Brooklyn and are hastagged #DarkSideNYC... they gotta be legit from LucasFilms/Disney, right? Maybe not... but they certainly are funny! And interesting modern day twist on Master Yoda's famous quote to Luke from Empire Strikes Back:

Super Mario Propaganda Poster by Michael Tyler For Sketch Lottery

My buddy Sal over at the Sketch Lottery has a hell of a site going on... it is getting bigger and bigger every week with every new category they introduce. The amount of participants are staggering, and the varying types of artistic talent weigh in every week on the different characters that are selected. But this week we saw a very popular character being picked... one that almost everyone with a pulse would be able to recognize. This weeks topic was Super Mario, and Sal got 27 submission from a crazy talented group of artists. But one stood out in particular to me... not because it was the best (that is subjective, no?) or because it was the most original. No, it stood out because of the current state of affairs in Russia/Ukraine that made Michael Tyler's submission stand out to me. He chose to take a old Russian propaganda poster that featured Joseph Stalin holding up a flag bearing child and give it the Mario spin. He subbed in Mario for Stalin (the mustache makes that easy) and Toad for the baby, and the rest is history. But when Sal posted the pic on Sketch Lottery's Facebook page, Michael shared the original poster that he used as a guide and inspiration... and when I looked at them side by side I just knew that I had to make a post showing them both. Sal and the gang start a new subject every Friday, so make sure you check back frequently to see what they are up to. These Recruitment Posters Make Picking A Side Tough...

Eric Tan has created two new recruitment posters in honor of the new Captain America movie to be released at the Mondo booth this weekend at Comic Con. Since I won't be getting the chance to go there, I am going to share all the cool stuff I come across with you guys here on CCD. These propaganda style posters are wonderful. You can see the Captain America/good guy one above, and after the jump you can see the one touting the Red Skull's Hydra army as the way to go. If I had to choose based on these posters alone, I would probably go with Hydra. I don't know why, but that damn chin strap on Cap's helmet is bothering more and more as we get closer to the movie release. If I joined up with the good guys they might make me wear ridiculous head gear like that, and that's a no no!!! Team Hydra it is...

Even More Sucker Punch Posters... And This Time They Are Vinatage!!!

We have been highlighting tons of images and clips from Zack Snyder's upcoming opus 'Sucker Punch'. I have totally fallen in love with Emily Browning, I can not possibly get enough Jaime Chung, and the rest of these hot bitches can all get it. That's not even bringing up the zombie Nazi's, the fighter pilot sequences, the dragons, the ninja warriors, the guns... yeah, not even all of that stuff. I can NOT wait for this fucking flick... and as we close into the month of its release, we get treated to even cooler 40's era propaganda posters featuring the 5 main characters. Wow... Mr. Snyder, your vision sure seems original. I hope it all makes sense and leads to a great movie. That's what we need to lead into your turn as the new director of The Man of Steel.
