Comic History 101: Just Who Are Hank Pym & Scott Lang Anyway?

 

IGN is a great website filled with a ton of cool content. They seemed to have found a way to be helpful to people who are trying to understand the true comic origins of characters that companies like Marvel are using in their movies. After all, its nice to know a little back story on the characters, especially the true original stuff that lies in the dusty pages of comic books past. This episode of Comic History 101 tackles Ant Man... well, Ant MEN. There have been three guys who have donned the Ant Man costume throughout the years (Hank Pym, Scott Lang, and Eric O'Grady) in the comics, but only two (Pym & Lang) will be appearing in Edgar Wright's full length movie adaption. Before we can move forward, take a cool look back at the origins of the great characters that Pym & Lang both are... and they even got scans of the original comics to illustrate the key points. A perfect precursor for a comic virgin (or a great refresher for a vet like myself) before another huge movie hits the theaters. Check out the full video after the jump...

Sooooooo... Just Who Are These 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Anyway???

As we approach the upcoming Summer movie season, it is only right that as good nerds we automatically begin to look ahead to next year... because lets face it, who really cares about the movies coming out this year? Its all about the future, and the future is certainly looking bright for Marvel Movies. This year we will be getting a Wolverine film, iron Man 3, and a late post summer release with Thor 2: The Dark World... but most of the focus is leaning towards the most mysterious of the announced Marvel films, Guardians of the Galaxy. But the difference between GotG and all of the other Marvel films is one glaring thing: Character Recognition. Most people have a vague knowledge of Thor, Iron Man, and Cap. But who in the fuck are the Guardians of the Galaxy, and how did they get their own big budget movie? Truth be told, they are smaller and lesser known characters in the Marvel Universe... but they do tie in nicely with the characters and story lines that have been sewn together in the Marvel Movie Universe. They are especially tied to the super villain  Thanos, the one who appeared at the end credits of the Avengers and seems to be the villain of the future for that franchise. And I personally can't wait to see a CGI Rocket Raccoon shooting some hand cannons and talking mad shit... he is one of the most underrated characters in the history of comics! So you want a bit of primer to get you excited for Guardians of the Galaxy? Here you go, courtesy of IGN. Pixar Presents The Expendables 2

Danielle Harris Makes Me Wish It Was Halloween All Year Round

One of our favorite actresses over here at CCD is Scream Queen, Danielle Harris. She reps from Howard Beach, Queens (my hometown), has been tearing up the horror movie scene for over 20 years, and is unbelievably freakin' hot. When I got a shot to meet her a few months back when she was promoting 'Hatchet 2' (which was awesome... make sure you check it!) I was happy to see just how nice she was. If you think she is smoking hot, you will be happy to know she is extremely humble and cool as shit. She even signed a bunch of posters for us to give away here (which we did) and over at my boy Johnny's horror blog Freddy In Space.

But the reason we are here on this post is to share the beautiful Ms. Harris and her recent photo shoot for IGN. This is, no doubt, in preparation for the recent DVD/Blu Ray release of 'Hatchet 2' and upcoming 'Stake land' (which was great as well) and also her upcoming thriller 'The Victim' directed by Michael Biehn. Whatever the reason, we are happy to have these shots of our favorite scary girl. Looking good DH... wanna grab a slice of 'New Park' next time your in NYC? Get at me... anytime!!!!
