Art is a subjective thing. What some people see as great art, others see nothing of value at all. That is all fine and good... but sometimes when you see the medium that the art is created on it goes a long way to generate a greater appreciation for the art. Case in point: Mike Bell's excellent celebrity sketches that he executes on matchbooks. This is like a 2 inch by 5 inch surface, and Bell makes it work to the most of his abilities. These are all incredible drawings, but the thing I love best about them is the way Bell uses the matches to compliment the characters. A gun made of matches in the hands of Bogey? Priceless.
