Snoopy x Enemy Ace: I Would Read The SHIT Out Of This Comic!!!

Our good buddy Ross has created many awesome "alternate reality" comic book covers over at his awesome Super Team Family blog. These are just spectacular, and his creativity always shines through... especially when he digs deep into the archives to come up with a worthy team up. My favorite Christmas song ever is "Christmas Bells" by The Royal Guardsman, that continues the story of Snoopy taking on the Red Baron in World War II. I always loved the storytelling of the song, and it was always cool to me to see Snoopy in the roll as a fighter pilot. So Ross decided to incorporate an old faithful DC Comic character in Enemy Ace, and match him up with Joe Cool. What a great idea, and it works so well. I loved the most recent inclination of Enemy Ace (Enemy Ace: War In Heaven by Garth Ennis) and Christmas just passed (so I was listening to the Royal Guardsman like crazy) so I had to share. Deadpool vs Ambush Bug by Ross

Ross is doing God's work over at his Blogspot account by creating faux comic book team up covers with MS Paint that would make any fanboy squee with joy. He started out doing Brave and The Bold covers featuring Batman and someone else, then he transitioned to Marvel Team-Ups with The Thing and someone else. Now he is doing Super Team Family team ups, which in effect don't tie him to a main character like the previous endeavors he undertook. Now he has freedom to choose BOTH characters in his fictional mash-ups, and boy is this leading to some good ones. The Watcher & Star Wars? Ant Man & Animal Man? Wonder Woman & She Hulk? The Lizard & Killer Croc? Rorshach & The Avengers? Yup all of these sound and are great... and exist on Ross's awesome site. but the one that stood out to me the best had to be Ambush Bug vs Deadpool cover that he did recently. Why? I am not really sure... probably because it would be a very funny comic to read. Deadpool is a lunatic, and Ambush Bug has always been a secret fave of mine. Plus they both break the 4th wall, so wouldn't be cool to see them both talking to & about the readers AT THE SAME TIME!!! That would be so epic. Super Team Family: Mister Miracle & The Escapist by Ross

One of my favorite blogs on the Internet is 'Super Team Family: The Lost Issues' by an excellent digital artist named Ross. The site has gone through a few incarnations, once focusing on Batman team-ups and then on Thing team-ups. Now he puts together awesome Super Family team-ups that have not and probably will not ever happen. He takes great characters that bare totally unrelated and makes you see just how great they would work together. Case in point: Today's team-up features one of my favorite characters in the history of comics Mr. Miracle as well as the titular superhero from The Adventures of Kavalier & Clay novel The Escapist. Both of these guys are escape artists and magicians... that is the easy tie in. But Ross dug deep into the world of a Pulitzer Prize winning novel to take the comic character from the story within the story to find the perfect match for Mister Miracle. Wow... what a great cover. Both Mikey & My Favorite Fictional Characters Get A Partnership With The Thing

I often frequent the wonderful blog created by Ross entitled "Marvel Two-In-One: The Lost Issues" to see just who he is going to pair up the big meenie The Thing with. The blog was originally called Brave & The Bold: The Lost Issues, but Ross switched up to The Thing after a couple hundred posts to keep things fresh. He often choses characters that are outside the box for team ups (Transformers, TMNT, The Thundercats, The Flaming Carrot, and Star Wars) as well as typical superheroes, so imagine my suprise when I went over to his blog this past weekend and saw these two covers.

First up, we got my son Mikey's favorite current superhero Plastic Man. I love me some Eel O'brien, and his "bad guy turned good" story is one of the best in comics. I love the recent Kyle Baker comic edition, and so does Mikey. I think he would love this cover... which is such a natural combo given the fact that Ben is often teamed with Mr Fantastic, who is pretty much a rip-off of Plastic Man anyway (minus the cool banter amd even cooler googles). Excellent work.

Next, we find one of my favorite fictional characters of all time, super spy James Bond. I personally would have went with Roger Moore's likeness over Connery, but thats just me. Yeah, I said it.... Moore was the best James Bond!!! I love the painted 1950-60's style cover, amd you gotta love that huge floodlight on top of the sniper rifle that Jamesy is carrying, no? Great work.

More Marvel Two In One Make Believe Mashups: The Thing & Blue Devil

I am a HUGE fan of the DC character Blue Devil. Have been for years. I don't know what it is... the book was kinda laid back and funny, and was filled with tons of action. I also became a fan of the original run because it was out when I started collecting comics back in 1984-85 (God damn I am old). I have a good amount of the 31 issues of BD's original run, and over the years he has appeared in tons of Justice League storylines that feature stuntman Daniel Cassidy and his magically fused exo-supersuit kicking supernatural ass. My boy Ross over at Marvel Two-In-One: The Lost issues decided to pair up ole BD with Ben Grimm, and the cover that he crafted reflects the fun loving tone of BD's 80's run (check it out, I highly recommend it!).
