Can Mondo Get Any Cooler??? Yup, They Can!!!

I have always been a fan of the Mondo crew, the guys who create posters in conjunction with the Alamo Drafthouse. They always seem to make rediculously awesome posters and work with some of the greatest artists in the game. That said, last year they worked with artist Aaron Horkey on a print for the new re-make of True Grit. That poster was amazing... but even though it was great, the gang at Mondo have taken it one step further. They decided to do a laser engraved wood carving using the Horkey poster as a blue print. Wow... wow. Click after the jump for pics and a video of the whole process...

Here is what they had to say on the Mondo website:

This Friday, we are bringing you a project that has been close to a year in the making. This is the laser cut TRUE GRIT variant from Aaron Horkey. The amount of production that went into this thing was ridiculous. Add to the fact that Aaron had to almost completely REDRAW the image for the laser cut specifications, we burned a board up on the laser that had to be totally replaced. I guess lasers weren't supposed to be ran 2 hours at a time which is what it roughly took to do each piece. We've also laser numbered the piece on the back and cut a slot so it can be hung without framing.

Here is the original poster:

Now here is some pics of the laser cut piece:

And finally, here is the video of the creation process:

If you like this sort of thing, you must become a follower of Mondo's Newsletter... this is the only place where they make announcements on when prints will go on sale. Prints usually sell out in minutes...
