The story follows the young girl Baby Doll (Emily Browning, above poster) and her confinement in a mental institution. In 5 days she will be labotmized, on the request of her prick stepdad. She creates a dreamlike world in which she needs to collect 5 items that will help her escape the institution back in the real world. In this dreamscape, she will encounter tons of fantastical creatures and technological marvels, and she will be assisted by some of her fellow inmates at the asylum. Snyder describes the movie as "Alice in Wonderland with machine guns." How can that be bad. Add in a crazy female cast with some real hotties (Vanessa Hudgens, Jenna Malone, Carla Gugino, Jaime Chung, Emily Browning) and you got my interest peaked. So this brings us to Comic Con 2010. Snyder plans on showing some footage for the film thats been shot, and he has issued the following six character posters for the girls of the movie. Take a look at the additional 5:
Thanks to the guys over at 411mania for the photos. So what do you guys think? How do you like the posters and the premise of the story??? Let us know in the comment section below.
It is amazing how fast a person can go from knowing nothing about a movie to searching out all one can know about a production that is maybe a year from being released. This looks like a winner. All girl cast, steampunk sensibilities - you got me hooked and those posters are awesome.
ReplyDeletePlus, I like that Snyder is paying his dues. Showed he could make a good flick with Dawn of the Dead. Then got a shot at two comic properties that were tough trasitions in 300 & Watchmen and I thought he pulled both off admirally. Now he gets to make his own vision into a film, and you can see all the creativity oozing out of this. I'm with you on the steampunk thing to Kal... I am getting more and more into the steampunk sensability (mostly due to your blog Kal), and this looks tO be in that vein.
ReplyDeleteI'm completely in on this! Looks like everything I like wrapped into one film.
ReplyDeletePiqued, not peaked. It makes all the difference in the world.
